Lakers will reach out to Calipari and Kevin Ollie per ESPN.

I don't want Cal but I'm very intrigued by Ollie. He's from LA, had a good NBA career, was an assistant at OKC and runs a pro style system at UCONN. Not to mention he is like BFFs with Durant.

Ollie wont leave, he left the NBA already. Larry Brown is his guru as is Calhoun.

I still think their best option is Collins for 2 years and then find a guy who can continue guiding the rebuilt ship.

Collins is a great choice as he usually teaches teams the right way to be a pro and builds foundations for others to build upon.

I just don't think this is the way the organization wants to go.

I very seriously doubt they look at this as any longer than a 2 year reload.

That is why Collins is perfect, he will get it righted in 2 years, burn out and you can get almost anyone you want as the "Laker shine" is back.

Oh yeah maybe you're right then.

I thought you were talking about Collins coming in to do a Croom type clean up just so that the next coach could be successful.

True, and that's why I included the Spurs as well.

Secondly I would be remiss if I didn't remind you of what happened in 2011 to the spurs in the playoffs. ;)

True as well, but also remember the team you DID lose to in the second round.

By 4 games to 3.

We are now to call KL Xzibit or Luda. I say with the braids his got that vibe going and he did wear some of the Timb looking shoes at SDSU once.

No George Karl being mentioned?

Nah. He is WhiWhi or TheHand. Kawhilights is also acceptable.

Hell, I'm feeling nice. I'll allow Xzibit

From what I've seen on twitter and reports, these are the confirmed candidates that LA will interview or gauge their interest in the near future:

Jeff Van Gundy
George Karl
Byron Scott
Kurt Rambis
Kevin Ollie
John Calipari
Tom Thibodeau (if given permission by Chicago)

I'm sure other names will continue to surface.

Adrian Wojnarowski ?@WojYahooNBA 2m Possible there won't be a superstar coach available to Lakers, but there's a hometown kid on fast-track to become one: UConn's Kevin Ollie.

quote:

Mike Bresnahan ?@Mike_Bresnahan 16m Lakers probably won't have new coach before May 20 lottery. Will likely hire high-salaried big-name NBA guy or NBA assistant with upside.

Marc J. Spears ?@SpearsNBAYahoo 30m Former NBA coach Stan Van Gundy is not expected to pursue the Lakers coach opening, a source said.

I hope these refs develop testicals and promptly get testicular cancer. I've never seen such biased officiating in my life.

Tough to blame the refs in a 20+ point game
