ever since we saw the documentary on the Twelve Tribes cult. the cult was started in Chattanooga by some weirdo (shocker). This brand of cult preaches Jesus will return once their 12 tribes reach 144,000 members. They use the deli as a front to recruit members, typically college students. But apparently the food is good. So we're heading to Pulaski, TN tomorrow.

Never heard of it, but if y'all like that sort of doc, check out Wild Wild Country on Netflix.

It was an A&E show called Cults and Extreme Beliefs. Think you can watch it on FreeVee now.
I've wanted to watch WWC, but never got to it. I watched the Documentary Now spoof instead.

Best reason I ever heard to join a cult.

I haven't been to the one in Pulaski but have been to the one in Chattanooga a decent amount.
The food is actually really good and I've never once been "recruited" or even approached or felt awkward. Students definitely use it as a hang out or study hall. Basically on the UTC campus.
My wife and I used to eat there once a month or so and kinda decided to stop going a couple years ago.
The kid abuse is what caused us to finally say we out.
Their banana milk and mango mate are good. The Deli Pesto and The Deli Rose at the Chattanooga one are good.
------
They also go to music festivals and find spunions and take them on their double decker bus and help them settle down and come off whatever they are on and try to recruit folks that way.

So she has given permission for you to eat some Asian pussy? I have never eaten there before but I would take her up on it. I would bring her along too.

Great movie.
Supposedly there is an underlying theory that Pivate Pyle and the crazy white boy in the jungle are the same person.
Pyle "dies" at boot and is "reborn" as the angry white guy that wants to waste the asian sniper.
Thoughts, if this was desired it totally missed my radar.

Maybe just as much as watching movies and TV shows themselves, I love to go check out message board interpretations and observations afterwards, because it usually highlights something I missed.
I think in most cases, people come up with more interesting and complex theories than what the writer or director actually intended, but to me it still makes those films more entertaining nonetheless (even if those theories aren't true).

Had the Deli Pesto. It did not disappoint. Kinda weird, there were no younger women working there. Guess they were home with the young ones.
We didn’t get recruited unfortunately. I kept dropping hints , too. Asked the waitress if she would give us directions cause we were lost.

At least she's not asking you to go to the Rainbow Deli!

I've been to the one in Oneonta, NY many times. The food is great.
All the cooks and servers are cult members, but they seemed pretty chill.

Ended up eating solo at the one in Rutland, VT while on a work trip and had no idea what I was getting into. Sat at the counter, ate the most comforting chili and freshly baked bread, and was given a rooibos tea latte "on the house." Thought the dude was just being friendly but then he slipped the 12 tribes pamphlet to me. Glanced around and it hit me all the men had matching pony tails and flannel shirts, and the "women" in the kitchen were likely teenagers.
I've been to the Chatt one a few times since. Love all the hand-carved wood. Deli rose sandwich is damn good.
