Which is your choice as best "outdoor" store?

I hate Bass Pro due to living by the original in SGF, but it always has everything I look for.

Bass Pro because I support Missouri companies.

It's why I still shop at WalMart, despite the experiences with shitty people.

As far as I know there's only Academy and then Woods and Water in Tuscaloosa.

However I've been to the Bass Pro Shop in Memphis a few times. I hope they make the deal to lease the Pyramid.

Kind of like Bass Pro out of the three, but WnW is best imo in Tuscaloosa.

Academy has really good prices from what I've seen. Bass Pro and Cabella's have a lot of shite, but I don't have any really close to me. I'd order online from any of them if the price is right, but can probably find better prices by looking around.

We did recently get a Gander Mtn down here and it is pretty nice. Has the best gun selection of any outdoors store I've been in. The entire back wall is literally lined with guns and this place is about as wide as your average Super Wal-Mart.

Depends on what you're looking for. From my experience in them all, Bass pro is best for fishing gear. Academy and Gander Mtn for gun selection and price, and Cabelas has good deer and big game hunting gear selection, and the best hunting clothes imo.

Academy is the Walmart of these stores. by that I mean cheaper prices.

But my answer is Academy anyway, since I only need work out stuff, shoes, and some golf stuff.

Plus they bring in the big names for their grand openings...

I use wing supply, Midwestern, and cabelas for most hunting stuff. Fishing stuff is a mixture of local places for the most part and Walmart when I'm in a bind and it's the only place I can get to.

1. Academy - prices and located just about everywhere. I usually like the staff, but some are clueless

2. Bass Pro - prefer their fishing stuff to the following two.

3. Gander Mountain - shiteton of guns. shite. ton.

4. Cabelas - Meh.

Every day hunting and fishing supplies: Academy.

Speciality hunting and fishing supplies: Mark's Outdoors or BassPro.

Cabellas bargain cave FTMFW.

They have one online, but the actual store in Gonzales (20 minutes under BR) is the shite.
My friend got a heavy duty North Face jacket, one that normally runs top dollar, for $50. Don't even need a jacket like that in the south, but for the price you can't pass it up.

Academy looks a feels sterile... Like a hospital. I'd take Bass Pro or Cabella's.

Sportsman's Warehouse up here is the place to go. We also have Bass Pro, Sports Authority, Gander Mountain too, for big name national stores.

Comparing Academy to Cabela's and Bass Pro seems quite disingenuous. It's very different.

Thankfully Baton Rouge has a few good Academies in town, and a Cabela's and Bass Pro within a 10-15 minute drive. Cabela's is the best by far.

academy has a nice mix of stuff and good prices but the staff is clueless unless you ask about shoes. good look finding one that knows where some camping gear would be or anything about a kayak other than hey we just put a few over there.

bass pro and the cabelas both have nicer things that when wanting to spend a bit more i like them.

also have dicks and they have way more kayaks than academy or bass pro. i haven't really looked more at their outdoor section.
