He takes a lot of shrapnel from fans, but I think he's been pretty damn good: tough, mobile, a leader and a gamer.

Yes we all hoped for more this year, but I blame Kirby Moore consistenly abandoning the run far more than flaws with Cook. The second half of the South Carolina game showed what we should have been all season. Funny how well the offense hummed when they prioritized running the ball and protecting the quarterback by holding an RB in.

I would take Cook over Drew Lock all day. I'd take him over Maty Mauk too. In fact the only QB I would definitively rank above him since the hiring of Gary Pinkel is Chase Daniel and probably Brad Smith. Otherwise there's a debate to be had.

My ranking would be...

1. Daniel
2. Smith
3. Cook / James Franklin (tie)
5. Blaine Gabbert
6. Mauk
7. Lock
8. The rest

It's a shame Cook couldn't stay healthy.

I'd take Lock and Gabbert over Cook with Moore as OC.

Both are NFL back ups who were hamstrung in college by garbage OCs ...

So Cook is a solid 5th ... if only considering the 1990s/2000s.

Going further back in history (60s, 70s) he probably falls lower into 10 range

Franklin is a bit ahead of Cook.

Phil Bradley and Corby Jones deserve a mention. I’d probably put Phil ahead of Cook as well.

I had limited myself from Gary Pinkel forward, but I would definitely agree with both Bradley and Jones.

Pinkel made Franklin into one of the best game manager qbs we ever had.

Pinkel forward I would go as far as just QB play

1. Daniel
2. Smith
3. Lock
4. Blaine Gabbert
5. James Franklin
5. Cook
7. Mauk

Cook is a brave and hearty leader for sure but his skill set is below all those above. Lock at 7 is a joke dude ended his career as the all time passing leader in the SEC. Any of those guys above piloting the team the last 2 years would have been far superior. This is not a knock on Cook but there is a reason they all played pro ball which I would be really suprised if Cook even would make a practice team.

Off topic ish but if you had to build the best Mizzou QB

Brain - Chase Daniel
Arm - Drew Lock
Legs - Brad Smith
Toughness - hardest one - Gabbert/Franklin/Cook
Nose - Maty Mauk

Franklin is my #2 of the guys on the provided list. He threw a nice ball and could move the chains with his legs. His performance in the SECCG would have been MVP worthy if Stec and Kuhl could have figured out how to stop Power and Buck Sweep.

Brad Smith was great football player. Great QB is stretching it a bit. Best runner of the guys listed but his arm was extremely limited.

Gabbert and Lock had issues in college that followed them in to the league. Their vision in the condensed part of the field never got better.

Watching Mauk play made my arse hurt. His mechanics and ball placement was subpar. Bud Sasser is the only reason his completion% was above 50%.

toughness I'd go with Brad Smith. I dont recall him getting hurt except for the one dirty hit from ISU. He was a tank and carried the ball a lot.

Nah. Lock got drafted for a reason. He hasn’t been great but he’s in the nfl. Cooks QB career is about over.

I think we beat LSU last season, Cocks this season, and potentially Bama too.

Lock didn’t have damn near the weapons Cook has enjoyed the last two seasons.

And Moore arguably a better OC fit for Lock.

Daniel undisputed best in my opinion. Gabbert and lock were good but didn’t like staying in pocket. Lock threw a great deep ball. Brad was unquestionably the best rusher and could create something out of nothing. Of the rest, Franklin is the best and underrated. Pretty good passer and strong running skills. Cook is similar to Franklin but not as good in either skillset. Franklin would have excelled in this offense.

Franklin's sophomore season was scratching the surface of what he could do when healthy. 2865 passing yds, 981 rushing yds 36 total TDs. Dude could ball. His shoulder was never right after that sack vs UGA in 2012.

You said all time right?
Cook is not in the same breath as Terry McMillan..Pete Woods these are QBs with historic wins but what I've seen since 2000 he's after all of Pinkels QBs except Mauk he's terrible he has the best WR room in history and has 3 losses..not good

Make it 3 votes for this group.

In order I'd go
Daniel
Smith
Frank the Tank. I loved that kids game.
