I went to some party at the Deep End behind what used to be Rock Bottom and Up Your Alley (I don't know if that's what they're still called.) I have never seen so many young frat stars and sorority girls in one place in Starkville. There were a fricking billion people there.
I was at that same party that night. It's still Rock Bottom, and the other one is called Drifters.
Zorbas and Old Venice are the only downtown bars left, Mugshots as previously stated is no more and State Theatre shut down once again.
The old CDC is now Staggerinn. The Bin 612 is larger now that they expanded into that other room...also the outside pickup window at the back by the cigar shop serves food all night.
We have a Chick Fil A, A BWW, and are getting a Beef o Brady's soon. That whole Cotton Mill strip mall thing is still in works last I heard.
The bar scene has really dwindled down this year and someone needs to buy/build a good one. House parties aren't what they used to be due to Cops being dicks. The deep end is the only place they really get away with a big party b/c cops never go down there.

I always thought the State Theater was a nice venue. Had lots of potential until they started charging $10 cover.
It was nice a few years back. It shut down and then reopened last year. It wasn't the same...had a lot of drumheads and hipster crowd and nobody ever went. Lost money and is now shut down again.
I would bet with the right management it could do really well right now, especially with Mugshots being closed as a bar.

My brother, a senior at State, tried to get me to go. He and all of his friends went, one ended up hitting a gb with some random guys out in the open. I heard it was nuts.

Also, I'm unemployed, so I'm up for opening a bar with someone. I've saved up a little flo

I'm thinking Filipino strippers would be essential to bring in the Asian crowd to a bar...
And girls dancing on the bartop for free drinks
And we would have to host the Mullen call in show on Thursday nights...all year long!

Rick's was an OK place when it first opened. He actually had some decent bands come through. Maybe he still does. I also liked The parrot next door b/c it was the only place that didn't charge a cover.
I think my go to bar was Flo & Eddie's or Dave's. I'd go to Dave liquor store and buy a pint and he'd give me a free admission.
Mulligan's had a decent crowd every now & then.
The Landing was decent except on Thursday night when it was crowded with frat dudes looking to fight.
Cheers on Tuesday nights could be fun but that was mainly filled with coast trash and starkville locals. Not saying that was a bad thing.
We'd go to Columbus every now and then to some club over there. Can't remember the name. Mainly went b/c they would close at 1 instead of 12.

Rick's is pretty decent now. He's doing a lot of live music. The affliction crowd is really only on $1 night on saturday but then again, there are representatives of every crowd that night.Dave's and Zorba's are solid choices as well. 3-4-1 wednesday night at Old Venice is nuts.

Dave's, Zorbas, the Bin are really the only places I frequent and Mugshots before it quit serving. Does anyone know if they will get their liquor license back. I know they have lost it a few times before.

I mostly hang out at the Bin. It's so goddamn crowded.

Yeah, I was there on Friday 2 weeks ago. I sweated through my shirt, walked back to my brothers apt to change and when I came back you couldn't even get to the tables in the back.

A bunch of young, strung-out shitheads there too.
I liked it better when I was the young, strung-out shithead.

I'll just say I was there in the mid 90's and wasn't a typical student.

So, you had an apartment in Starkville, but went to EMCC Golden Triangle Campus and told everyone you went to State.

ABC is usually all over Ricks. I went to a date party there last night and the ABC showed up around 11 and started handing out MIP's, they weren't even trying to blend in just had their black shirt and black pants walking around acting like the dickeads they are.

Never saw any ABC at date parties or formals. That blows.
