I'm pretty sure this season's opener will be the last in the UK-WKU football series. The Hilltoppers completed their non-conference schedule for next season and added a 3 game series with Vandy for 2015/2016/2017. I'm going to the Nashville game this season, but I am glad the series is ending. I don't really see much benefit for UK playing the game anymore. I think we will probably see more home games against EKU/Morehead/Murray in the future.

I didn't realize it was coming to an end this season. I have to agree though. There's not much benefit to playing WKU at this point and it doesn't more harm (see last season) than good. Especially if we go to a 9 game SEC schedule.

The contract was signed for 4 games in 2008 and called for 2 UK Home games in 2010 & 2012 and 2 WKU Home games in Nashville in 2011 & 2013.

The Hilltoppers have a full schedule next year while UK still has one opening left. UK already has a FCS team scheduled for next season so, they will need to schedule one more FBS school and my guess is that it is a Home game vs a Sun Belt, C-USA level school.

It's a game that's just not worth having. WKU isn't a guaranteed win anymore, but you aren't going to get any credit for beating them. And you'll even lose some depending on how much you beat them by. If you're going to go cupcake, 1AA is probably the best move for Kentucky at this point

FTR, I HATE that the game is in Nashville. I know we have downs there and everything but I don't like it. At all.

Would much rather see UK add Indiana back, or Purdue/NC/NC State, even Southern Miss. As stated, nothing to win playing WKU.

What about Cincy? Someone could probably talk Tuberville into playing an SEC opponent, especially one so close.

I bumped the UK OOC scheduling thread for folks discussing who to replace WKU on the UK schedule.

Not a bad idea, but I want UK to play big conference opponents they can beat (i.e. IU, NC) in areas where it might make a recruiting impact. I think with Stoops especially we are recruiting Ohio well, and with Cincy only being 80 miles from Lexington, I would prefer they go a bit farther out to play a named opponent. Just my opinion though.

You may want to take UNC off that list then imo. At least until Stoops gets the players he needs.

I'm not sure about this, but I believe in the original contract between UK & WKU was an agreement to split the gate in Nashville. WKU would def win because UK will bring more fans, but this was also a way for UK to play a road game and still reap some benefit to it.
