My problem is this all started with the premise that being vaccinated will stop the spread and that’s simply not true. You can be fully vaccinated and be asymptomatic and still spread it. You are still spreading the virus. I got the vaccine because in my community we’ve been hit so hard I assumed I was going to get it based on the infection rates and wanted any type of defense against it. The vaccine isn’t going to stop me from spreading it to my coworkers.

I'm just not letting my political belief cloud my health judgement.
Such power you want over me. Do you not see how wicked that is

Yes it is. You clearly don't understand the difference between the vaccines you are talking about, the diseases they are for, covid and why mandating such a thing is beyond unreasonable.

Cool. I don't let ignorance cloud my judgement, which is why mandating this vaccine is absurdly stupid.

There is a two sided coin to a vaccine. Safety and Effectiveness...mRNA vaccines have no serious safety profile issues (30+ years of data) and minimal safety profiles now that billions of people in the world have them in their body.

Oh and can you really call it a vax if I can still get covid after taking the shot?
Yes, Yes...like many, many, many other vaccines. The Flu vaccine ranges from 40-60% effective most years.
This thread isn't disappointing.

There is a reason the flu vaccine has never been federally mandated in its current form.
There is no point mandating a vaccine that does not stop transmission or infection, has waning efficacy over a short period of time, for a respiratory virus that has a natural animal reservoir to develop variants. Covid vaccine and Covid have all these factors.

Did the government cause the pandemic in an attempt to tear it down and build it back better?

Do you support a federal mandate on the flu vaccine?

The lack of awareness in this post is astounding.

I don't support a mandate for the COVID vaccine. However, I know they damn well have they power to do it. As many on here probably didn't figure out or may still not understand COVID is remarkably more serious than the flu. Every data point suggest this...that was true in February of 2020 when it was ravaging Italy. It was true in the summer of 2020 and the winter of 2021 and even the summer of 2021.. among the unvaccinated. The vaccinated data in the summer of 2021 made COVID way more like a bad flu season. The power mentioned earlier lies in the reality that data suggest the severity of the public health risk.
To people that work in immunological fields the only surprise in this pandemic has been we don't have them more often.

It's not shocking we disagree. However, the hand ringing over the nonsense around this disease and the vaccine is snowflake behavior.
I realize everyone isn't the same but my guess is the vast majority of those opposed to the vaccine and/or mandate also believed it wasn't serious March-May 2020...then that it was only an Old Persons issue June-September 2020...then said things like it would go away after the election October-November 2020...then said it will go away when Biden is finally in office and the liberals stop talking about it December 2020-March 2021.
How many times do you choose wrong before you just look at the info and make the common sense choice? It is serious. The vaccine is safe and effective. This is America if I don't take it I might lose my job and eventually my kid might not be able to go to school.

That's the million dollar question isn't it? I certainly wouldn't be surprised.

Says the person that argued we should let Harsin go for not forcing our entire team to get the vaccine. Okay bud. Also, first page.

Elections have consequences. Sounds like good policy.

The fact you even type this with a straight face is beyond ridiculous. It may or may not be, but you have absolutely zero way of truly knowing this, if you had any knowledge whatsoever as to how flu numbers are tracked and compiled. Also, nobody has argued this one way or the other in this thread to my knowledge and I certainly have not, so i'm not really sure what point you are trying to make.

Not wanting to force people to take a vaccine that does not stop transmission or eliminate the threat of the virus is snowflake behavior to you?

K. Fun strawman.

I never said that...not ever.

I know that it is very American to impose requirements to do things. If a business or employer wants to mandate they have that right. Workers can choose to go some other place. They also have that right.

You were making a wise assertion that we don't mandate vaccines for viruses where the vaccine often decrease in their effectiveness over time. I was suggesting that the reality that COVID is considerably more serious than the FLU is why that approach is being taken.

So you actually do support the federal mandate. Stop lying then.

Both things you said are not correct. The vaccine reduces transmission rates which will always slow the spread. You might believe fully vaccinated people were driving the summer spike but all the data that exist states the transmission was driven in unvaccinated people.

Harsin on Auburn University's new vaccine mandate: "I'm aware of the new policy. I appreciate you have to ask the question and understand it, but that doesn't change. The executive order, that doesn't change the fact I'm not going to discuss any individual's status"
