We're up to 89th in Defensive Efficiency per Torvik and 67th per Kenpom. Are we sneakily trending in the right direction?

Been better, no doubt. Not great, but not as catastrophic.

One of the biggest reasons is that, until the Arkansas game, our defensive rebounding had been much better.

I wish my blood pressure could agree with you. I was just starting to get comfortable Saturday with a steady 13 point lead, then...

You seem to be lost. This is the Alabama basketball season thread. There is no "stress free" here.

Alabama guard JD Davison was named the SEC’s freshman of the week for his performances in the Tide’s wins over Ole Miss and Arkansas last week.

It's hard to play much worse than we did to close out the game. At least it's a win and not a loss to Georgia. I'd call that progress.

It'd be nice to win comfortably on Wednesday but that may be asking a bit too much at this point. This is such a wild team to try and figure out on a daily basis.

Of course, they should learn how to pour cokes that aren't consistently flat before moving on to beer.

Yikes - the City and University are generally pretty much in lockstep on this stuff, or they figure it out behind closed doors. Putting something like this out in the public sphere must mean they got significant backlash from City Hall.

Yeah, something happened behind closed doors. My guess is the city is concerned with higher police payroll on football weekends and the University balked at helping to defray those potential costs. Or something like that.

Complete guess though. I have no insider knowledge.

Because right now they're doing such a bang-up job making the strip feel safe at night after the game

It feels like the City threw a curveball and UA is pissed. I mean the University had signs printed regarding alcohol rules and everything. I assume it wouldn't have gotten this far unless they had some sort of understanding with the City.

Good to see JD get some recognition since he's had so much criticism.

I wouldn't think the city would pick a fight with their golden egg but they did. mmmmmm

Well, there are two sides to every story and the University was the first to go public and frame it in a way that makes the city look bad, so of course it seems that way. Not defending the city at all, but more likely is there was a breakdown behind the scenes that both sides contributed to.

100% and there can be bias for who made a statement first. But I don't see how it could have gotten this far unless everything material had been disclosed and worked out

from Tusc News re the beer tax

quote:

• $1 per ticket sold at any event with the capacity of 1,000 to 19,999 people;

• $2 per ticket sold at any event with a capacity of 20,000 to 49,999 people; and

• $3 per ticket sold at any even with the capacity of 50,000 people or greater.

How can you tax something people may not use? I drink but I don't particularly like beer but they want an extra $32 from me for beer tax for season tix (16 games x 2 tix)? Nah.

quote:

The Tuscaloosa city council voted earlier this month to approve the license, but The Tuscaloosa News reported Sunday that the council later adopted a fee structure on events where alcohol is sold.
