Shack has had 2 straight really good games

He seemed to draw the strongest of Oats’ ire yesterday in the 1st half, so it was good to see him respond so positively. Hopefully he can start putting it together without needing an arse chewing.

They clearly don't think that he matches up well against Missouri. The only 2 times he's played less than 10 minutes this season are both games against Mizzou - 8 minutes per game in each of them.
Yeah the matchup with Kobe Brown is just not a good one for him. Brown is just a stronger guy and has the smarts as a senior to make Bediako foul, bite on pump fakes, or just completely muscle him down low. I like how we tried to take away those advantages by just putting a better athlete out on the floor, even if we were giving up size with Miles.

I just watched Oats' post game presser and he flat out said Bediako can't play against Missouri's lineup because they basically play 4 forwards. They thought he could play against DeGray maybe, and then within like 3 minutes Bediako had 2 fouls and DeGray had made two 3s.

My position is this...you (Robot) have no clue what's going on nor why he isn't getting playing time so therefore let's just spew false crap so you can get a laugh or a like out of it. It's crazy how you claimed there's reports about a TEENAGER who's supposedly LAZY with piss poor work ethic in practice but I have yet to see you post a link or anything for that matter to prove that point. When you speak on something or somebody just back it up with FACTS.

“I was told by a very reliable source that Alex Tchikou isn't performing well and to not expect him to play much this season. That was at the beginning of the season. I don't usually like releasing this kind of stuff because they are just kids, but since this is being asked so much, I figured I'd let y'all know.“

Okay! I appreciate that DLev45. You actually bought something to the table.

There were still a lot of people assuming on the discussion board but I can work that.

We sure could have used him if he was able so I think him not playing a lick speaks a lot given the recent struggles.

There is definitely a chance we get back into the rankings.

#23 Texas lost.
#22 Loyola lost.
#20 Xavier lost.
#17 Illinois lost 2x.
#15 Iowa State lost 2x.
#12 LSU lost 2x (3 in a row).

We are 21st in NCAA NET

I spent nearly the entire OOC schedule trying to figure out why we couldn’t break through in the NET rankings, then spent the first month of conference play wondering how we were hanging on to anything resembling a top 25 NET. At this point, I’m just going to give up and assume the NCAA finally cracked the super secret formula and that our NET ranking is utterly unquestionable and accurate.

Not to mention we’re still 16th in KenPom. It doesn’t feel like this thread thinks we’re the 16th best team in the country.

Torvik has us at 23, below Florida. I’m not sure about being below Florida, but 23 doesn’t feel overly harsh.

A bit off-topic but LSU still seems a bit too high in all the metrics for me. They just aren’t good offensively.

Yea, I do wonder sometimes how you mesh together offensive and defensive efficiency to get a net number.

LSU is #11 on KenPom. They are #1 in defense and #132 in offense.

The only other team in the Top 32 that is outside the Top 100 in offense or defense is Iowa State. They are #135 in offense and #6 in defense. They are ranked #32 OVERALL. The lowest offense/defense ranking for any other team in the Top 16 is our defense at #60. Next is Texas Tech's offense at #58, then Tennessee's offense at #53. LSU's offense is LIGHT YEARS worse than any of those 3.

LSU is #1 in defense and #132 in offense.

Iowa State is #6 in defense and #135 in offense.

LSU is #11 overall. Iowa State is #32 overall.

I don't quite get it.

We've kind of settled into a pretty equilibrium spot at this point between metrics and resume

#21 NET
#16 KenPom
#23 Torvik
#19 ESPN BPI
#22 ESPN SOR
#22 Torvik Wins Above Bubble
#23 ELO
#18 Sagarin

So, between 16-23 in all the rankings, mostly, average of about 20-21.

It’s been discussed plenty, but my gosh our schedule is brutal. We don’t get another “easy” home game until February 26 versus South Carolina, and at the moment that’s probably not a complete gimme.

Our easy games between now and then are @Georgia and @Ole Miss (who might just be bad). Obviously we are fully capable of mucking those up if we come out complacent.

It's the hardest schedule in America and #2 isn't even really close per the metrics

KenPom SOS
1. Alabama (+12.29)
2. Villanova (+11.19)
3. Wisconsin (+10.51)
4. Butler (+10.44)
5. Michigan (+9.51)

30. Notre Dame (+6.73)

The difference in our schedule and #5 Michigan's is the same difference as between #5 Michigan and #30 Notre Dame. It's massive.

Also hilarious is the breakout between offense and defense

SOS - Overall : #1
SOS - Offense : #1
SOS - Defense : #5

We've played the best collection of offenses in CBB and the 5th best collection of defenses

This team just makes no sense at all. They're going to have the most impressive 7 seed resumé in history.

Honestly, I'll frickin take it. They'll make me want to kill my dog at least 4-5 more times this season and I'm sure they'll lose a game (maybe this week) that tempts me to write them off entirely, but in the end they'll be in the tournament and we'll all know that if things click they can quite literally beat anybody in the tournament.

For an "off year", that is more than I ever could have imagined. Especially after wandering the tournamentless wilderness for 15 years.

It would be a lot easier if Auburn wasn't the best team in the country . I don't think that is helping our assessment of our own team, especially a year removed from being close to that level at this point in the season ourselves.
