curious what youre trying to say with that gif? our defenses under Champ were not good at all.
but under Spurrier they were solid, but they included multiple future NFL stars (Clowney, Ingram, Swearinger, Gilmore, etc)
Our defense currently is a 4-2-5 and sits at #28. its the one thing we are good at.
yeah you scored 40, check my post history ive been using the above stat to prove yall have fixed your early offensive issues.

Yeah for good reason. LSU’s defense is littered with 4 and 5 star players but it doesn’t matter when we are running 3 DL and 2 linebackers. Teams can run at will on us. If Leech wasn’t so stubborn State could have done the same last week.
Sounds like LSU isn’t doing a good job of matching personnel, or their personnel is not performing up to their rating.

With extinction of the fullback and the Power I offense and teams running spread offense and rpos...I think the 3-3-5 and the 3-2-6 will become more and more prevalent.
It's fun to watch with all the speed you can put on the field.
It's not extinct, just dormant until coaches figure out how to use it again.

3-2-6 base requires a STOUT NG and two safeties who are hybrid Safety/LB's to be effective, otherwise you get abused on the run.

That's the point of Crow's post. Teams will say they're a 3-4 like UGA does but we spend maybe 10% of the time in that set. LSU can say it's a 3-2 but if they're facing a heavy run team then they'll adjust just like UGA does. We face a bunch of RPO/Spread teams so we spend over 50% of our time in a nickel but our base defense is still a 3-4. If LSU is still sitting in a 3-2 against run heavy teams then that is just retarded.

Odom will play multiple fronts depending on best talent.
We play 3 down lineman because nobody has been able to handle it.
I suspect you will see many fronts come Saturday

My only point is 3–3-5 was not optimal against a Nick Marshall power spread. I’m sure it would work against a lot of different teams.
It all goes back to the big uglies. If you are whipping them at the line of scrimmage everything snowballs from there.
Huh last year was the first year Odem didn't run a 4-3???

Multiple.
I think it depends on the personnel available. Not every school is stacked with elite players.
So, if you happen to have a bunch of good DL but a little light on LB, you go 4-3 or 4-2, depending on your confidence in DB's. Or you are light on DL but you have a good corps of LB's, you go 3-4.
I think you bake a cake with the ingredients you have. Get the best players on the field.

Ok so let's say you have the players needed for your scheme. Which are you choosing?

3-3-5 against most offenses you see.

the most deficient is very easy Mizzou I don't know if the front 4 looks to avoid contact and play that soft and the linebackers are nowhere to be found. They play lookout defense the look and get out of the way. Tennesee has to be thinking they can rush for 500 yards this week.
