But he is also one of only a handful of Qbs to ever beat Alabama.

Finley came in and made plays when he needed to help the team win. His improv throws when the plays broke down were clutch. Within the system he was inaccurate and inconsistent. He looks like Jeremy Johnson standing in the pocket in terms of body language
The TJ fanboys amaze me. It’s like they didn’t see him play earlier in the year.
I’m not sure what the answer is here. Both QBs looked bad, the OL looked bad, and the WRs suck to the point where we fired the coach before midseason. We have a long way to go and simply putting the backup QB in there isn’t gonna fix what’s broke.

Same dudes probably wanted Jeremy Johnson to play in 2014.

This! We have no Oline.
I rewatched the game and was shocked how our Oline was completely dominated by GA St. during the entire game. Nix didn’t have any time in the pocket. He made some poor throws and didn’t do a good job with his legs. Other than that, OL should get most of the blame. Finley took advantage of the situation. Georgia St did not expect him to move around, so he had more time and could even make some plays with his legs.
Our OFF problems won’t go away unless we get the O-Line fixed!

I didn’t realize it but now I can’t unsee it... oh man. He definitely looks more poised than JJ though, and he can actually throw the ball forward, so that’s an improvement.

Bo isn't terrible. He's just a placeholder who will be either pretty bad or pretty good depending on performances around him.
Unfortunately, as much as I'd love to see TJ just outright take the job, I'm not sure what skillset he is going to offer that will differentiate from Bo. So he'll have to unseat Bo by being a better decision maker, having a stronger and accurate deep ball, better knowledge of the playbook, etc. And I'm just a long way from convinced that'll be the case over multiple games.

TJ also lacks the one major advantage Bo possesses: the ability to make plays with his legs. Of course Bo has pretty much negated that advantage due to his poor decisions under pressure. I have yet to see him make defenses respect the threat of him running the ball.

Speaking of being a placeholder, who around here thinks Bo Nix is on the team next year?
I wonder since he wasn't recruited by Harsin, if he has seen enough, or does he think he can coach him up to a serviceable SEC QB to hold it down for his senior year until he can get a guy he wants ready? Or does Bo see the writing on the wall and hit the portal? Gonna be interesting to watch and see what happens over the next year.

Narrator: Finley is more turnover prone and actually has the lowest career completion percentage between the two.
Narrator response: Finley had played only 5 games as a true freshman, and brought in only bc their starter got hurt. His first away game ever was at Auburn. He also had away games at TaM, and had to perform against Alabama(didn't throw an INT in this game).
Nix is playing in his 31st game, and still making mistakes.
Now I'm not saying Finley is the answer to our QB problems, but he does provide a better passing arm and ability to complete passes, and he showed yesterday in can be accurate even when pressured or moving out of the pocket.
Temporarily he is a better option.

TJ hasn't been hit like Bo has been hit behind that OL yet. Bo owns a lot of his issues, but scheme and poor OL play haven't helped his mental game and for the QB that will always bleed into the physical game.

Don't think Bo ran once against GA State

I've been a Bo Nix defender (within reason) in that I thought with good coaching he could become one of those steady hand, productive QBs that gets remembered fondly in the conference but never contends for elite status.
More and more it appears he'll be a manager at best, and will never be very productive in doing so. So I think it's a fair question, a lot more legitimate than I envisioned a few weeks ago.
I still hold out some hope that this will cause Bo to take a step forward - but he's had the time and opportunity, and to me he still seems like a nice post-HS QB with a lot of accolades but very few moments of taking over a game or leadership when the team is on the ropes.

Given Nix passed the eye test also as a true freshman this really doesn’t hold much weight with me.

If Harsin gets a top west coast QB to sign / transfer then Bo might end up at UCF.

I agree he just needs more confidence and we should not limit his running game. He is more of a Tebow type of QB who should be utilized accordingly. He also reminds me somewhat of Jake Locker during his sophomore season at Washington (rough, underdeveloped but talented).

Yep. Doesn’t matter if he’s faster if all he does is run backwards.

Nix our version of John Parker Wilson and Brodie Croyle. Nice local guys who were good HS QB’s.
