He had NOTHING to do with the Sandusky issues at PSU but, since he had been with the program Tennessee fans associated the two. I’m glad they did because they passed up on the only HC that could have turned the program around. The fans run that program and they do an awful job of it, thankfully.

Of course they didn’t want schiano and it cost them. Hey let’s paint a rock in outrage

Tennessee ran him off. We didn’t run him off for Pruitt though. Fulmer just managed to hire an equally bad coach.
Because 17 other coaches turned Tennessee down.

Heupel isn’t a good coach, but he’s damn sure better than Schiano. Not really comparing apples to apples with their schedules and time on the job either.

You’re describing Butch Jones, we weren’t any better for dealing with him for 5 years.
Butch Jones took over a Cincy team that had just played in 3 straight BCS bowls (and gone 12-0).

Wrong. Fulmer only interviewed Pruitt, Steele and Mel Tucker. Currie was the one that went through about 10 coaches after the Schiano fiasco.

Butch was a used car salesman with motivational posters. He’s nothing like Schiano. And isn’t Butch Jones the best coach you guys had had in a while?

Honestly I think a lot them just didnt like the idea of Schiano. Didnt even have a real reason. They already failed on Gruden before butch and Dooley I think.
Gruden was the heavy betting favorite in Vegas just 10 days prior to the deal with Schiano being made public. That’s why UT fans lost their shite. It was silly.

Butch and Schiano are literally the exact same coach. Just swap chopping wood with laying bricks.

Wonder why you're ignoring my previous post...

Your post has nothing to do with what I said, that’s why. I said we were no better off after having him for 5 years. Responding to the guy that said we could have Schiano for 4-5 years then hire a better coach.
So just like Butch, Schiano could get us to 7-8 win range, then we fire him and inevitably hire someone shitty and still have a shite roster.

Schiano built a winner with no star recruits and Botch couldn't win with a loaded roster full of 4 stars.

You mean to tell me that Clay Travis doesn't know what the frick he's talking about when it comes to coaching?

Sounds like UTK ain't the program y'all supposedly think it is. Hmm...

You either hire an elite coach or it doesn’t matter. There’s no such thing as hiring a guy to “stabilize the program and roster”. There’s always going to be too much turnover and toxicity around the program when you have to fire someone. That is unless you’re Kentucky and your fan base let’s you rebuild for 10 years.

So he won 11 games at Rutgers but couldn't win more than 7-8 at UTK?
Posted on 9/19/21 at 7:28 pm to MetroAtlantaGatorFan
He was in the Big East after the split and that was during the height of his tenure there, so no, maybe 9 with a bowl game.. like Butch.

You could change my mind about post term abortion

Not only that, when he inherited Rutgers they were one of the worst programs in D1 and he turned them into a 8/9 win team without landing the kind of recruits a program like UT can land.

Beat a Louisville team that finished 6th in the country. Hmm...
