They keep showing the heat map of covid and overlay with vax status and it's the deep south....
Guess what the deep south has in common that no other state has?
Guess!
Those rascally conservatives! Right? Right?

It's not just the South. Nationwide, counties that voted for Trump have lower vaccination rates and higher COVID infections. The anti-vax movement is MAGA conservative.

Its not really, the African American community is the largest block of vaccine hesitance and they share the trump belt.
I know tons of conservatives who are vaccinated.
This is just a democrat talking point used to divide.

Those who aren't getting vaccinated at this point are anti-government skeptics that don't trust the push for a myopic response by known liars in politics and media to address something with such a low mortality rate in the vast, vast majority of the population. Those skeptics also happen to be more on the Conservative side.
Those same people were skeptical about the vaccines last year when Trump was in office, and they were joined by most people on the political left who thought Trump was trying to poison everyone with the vaccines. Those leftist individuals did a 180 when Trump was removed, though. The Conservative skeptics have been consistent, at least.
ETA: And as was said, black and brown people are still mostly hesitant to get the vaccine, and they aren't exactly politically conservative.

Unless I missed some major comments, pretty sure this is a misrepresentation. I believe what I saw said pretty consistently was that they weren't relying on Trump's opinion on the safety of the vaccine, rather the scientists who were evaluating... This was a response to a lot of Trump's blustering about how fast he was going to make them available, leading to fear around how much testing would have been done at that point.
You guys can continue the battle here, but worth keeping things contextualized at least.

It is interesting to note that in Florida, the media spread a Conspiracy Theory about DeSantis getting the vaccines to his cronies and districts that supported him as vaccine favoritism …. And now have gone 180 and say he is responsible for encouraging people to not get vaccinated. It is interesting to study these people.

Both claims about DeSantis are true. Likewise, everyone at Fox News opted to be vaccinated but many of those pundits encourage their viewers to take a pass.

To be clear, you believe in the Conspiracy Theory that DeSantis has both used Vaccine favoritism for Republicans while at the same time has publicly urged Florida Republicans to not get vaccinated?

Liberal progressives control the news media and their Lemmings feel strongly both ways regardless of the nonsense and hypocracy.

The roll-out of the vaccines began under Trump and article after article condemned Trump for the lack-luster reception to the vaccines in January before he was out of office, even though he paved the way to getting them developed and released to the public in less than a year.
So to my point, there is a large contingent of people who supported Trump but didn't trust the vaccine a year ago who still support Trump and still distrust the vaccine today, even though Trump has been pro-vaccine since at least when operation war speed kicked off. On the other hand, those on the other side of the aisle distrusted Trump and the vaccine until he was on his way out, then changed their tune.

Johns Hopkins data - COVID deaths per 100M stratified by percentage of Trump vote at the county level.

So my little guy is fully recovered and getting ready to roll out of quarantine but my 14 yr old just tested positive so we have another 10 days to go with him. He has zero symptoms and of course we’ve been around him since he tested negative last Friday.
I’m convinced the test picks up the virus in your nose (God knows it’s all around us) and the “asymptomatic” COVID case means it’s in your nose but you’re not sick. Fingers crossed he stays that way.
What other virus do we test people for when they’re otherwise healthy with no symptoms?

You can continue to say this until you're blue in the face, but to my knowledge, the known commentary of the time doesn't support your hypothesis. As I mentioned before, the comments that I saw on a routine basis were essentially a repetition of Biden's comments from one of the debates:
quote:
I Trust Vaccines. I Trust Scientists. But I Don't Trust Donald Trump
This isn't meant to be a support of Biden or a slam on Trump, simply that you're drawing conclusions that aren't supported by the context of the statements made. People are allowed to be hesitant and change their minds as science and data comes in to deter or alleviate that hesitancy... that *should* be the default state for most scenarios. Acting as though someone changing their position due to new or additional information is somehow a negative is perhaps why we see so much bullshite from both polar ends of nearly every political topic... not just here but everywhere.
Hell.. I don't think enough credit is given to Trump for simply challenging the status quo of vaccine development. He said I think it can be done in 6 months (or some aggressive timeline) and a lot of people were sky screaming that a vaccine had never been developed that quickly and that we would be 2 years away or some shite... The reality was a lot closer to Trump's timeline than it was to 2 years... Now the rollout plan left a lot to be desired, but to me that reeks of effort/time went toward campaign late in the election process and then once the results came in, obviously there was a lot of time/energy devoted to the challenges...
