Western. Being a southern sympathizer didn’t make him a southerner. If that is all it takes. my Yankee aunt by marriage who was born and raised and lives in NY would be Southern too as she fell in love with the South the first time she visited. Takes her vacations here every year and sent her kids to grandmas house every summer so they could learn southern manners. She’s a sweet lady and would be a credit to our part of the world but she is no more southern than Jessie James was
