COVID 19-vaccines are effective. They can keep you from getting and spreading the virus that causes COVID-19.
COVID-19 vaccines also help keep you from getting seriously ill even if you do get COVID-19.
Getting vaccinated yourself may also protect people around you, particularly people at increased risk for severe illness from COVID-19.
This is straight from the CDC, points 1 and 3 are clearly false. The middle is clearly true. So, there is some benefit to the vaccine but it's definitely not working exactly as intended.

You can't say point 1 and 3 definitely false.

You can't definitely say either are false as they say CAN and MAY, not WILL. You're taking small bits of data and using that as a blanket to say they aren't working, when it's been proven that they are.
Are there instances where breakthrough infections are happening and some vaccinated people are spreading it as well? Yes, but from everything I've seen, those tend to be outliers and not the norm.

I thought breakthrough infections meant vaccinated folks who had symptoms?
I always thought the medical folks said you would carry the virus if vaccinated and spread. It was just dependent on the severity of symptoms, if any.
Or am I completely wrong?

Hopefully coach Harsin survives Covid. I’m getting bored with the chat. Tuning out.

This isn't anecdotal or related to a small area.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that when like 60-70% of adults are vaccinated and numbers are as high as they have ever been it's not preventing getting the disease or transmission.

The vaccine is supposed to prevent illness and transmission
maybe to someone who doesn't know what a vaccine is, yes. hell let's look at the very definition of vaccine
quote:
a preparation that is administered (as by injection) to stimulate the body's immune response against a specific infectious agent or disease
you could even go to the wikipedia for vaccine
quote:
A vaccine is a biological preparation that provides active acquired immunity to a particular infectious disease.[1] A vaccine typically contains an agent that resembles a disease-causing microorganism and is often made from weakened or killed forms of the microbe, its toxins, or one of its surface proteins. The agent stimulates the body's immune system to recognize the agent as a threat, destroy it, and to further recognize and destroy any of the microorganisms associated with that agent that it may encounter in the future. Vaccines can be prophylactic (to prevent or ameliorate the effects of a future infection by a natural or "wild" pathogen), or therapeutic (to fight a disease that has already occurred, such as cancer).[2][3][4][5] Some vaccines offer full sterlizing immunity, in which infection is prevented completely.
has this vaccine EVER been represented to prevent the spread? or are you just ignorant and made presumptions because you don't know what vaccines really are?

Yes, it has by pretty much everyone pushing it including the CDC as I just posted.

Uhhmmm, yes, it absolutely HAS.
One of the biggest "shame tactics" during this entire shite-show was the mass messaging of: get the vaccine so that you can do your part in protecting others. "Don't be selfish, getting vaccinated means that you're protecting those who are at higher risk even if you are low risk yourself". That has been the literal messaging to those that aren't old, aren't sickly, and otherwise don't have any real reason to vaccinate.
Now we're finding out that being vaccinated doesn't in any way, shape, or form prevent you from spreading the virus to others. In fact, I'd argue that it actually PROMOTES it's spread. How? Because before vaccination, those with symptoms would stay at home and naturally quarantine. Those that are vaccinated may in fact be infected and infectious, and not even have any of the "obvious" symptoms. So they carry on with their lives and go shopping, go to work, socialize, etc. and spread the virus to others. This is likely why all of these countries are showing huge spikes in infections.
So now that we know that the vaccine doesn't prevent you from catching the virus, and it doesn't prevent you from passing it on to someone else, this has now circled back to: all it does is offer some degree of PERSONAL protection. But if it's only real function is personal protection, then this MUST be a personal choice by default. Which therefore means that any mandates which suggest that ALL OF SOCIETY must make this choice or face restrictions or consequences are by definition totalitarian and a breach of individual rights.

Sterilizing immunity is rare for vaccines. The measles vaccine comes close. The HPV vaccine is almost 100% effective and sterilizing. (Sterilizing means you don't get infected or spread).
Most vaccines aren't that. Most prevent moderate to severe symptoms.

You can get into whatever semantics you want, but it was 100% presented, and some are still trying to beat the drum, that it would significantly reduce the spread. It has not.

Yes...this conversation is going the same route as the Groundhog Day movie...

CDC: Unvaccinated people are 29 times more likely to be hospitalized with Covid

Love all you guys, if you want the vax get it, if you don't don't, take care of yourselves the best way you know how. Best of luck to everyone and their loved ones, can we at least all agree we don't want Auburn going down the road LSU just took?

One of the big issues with this is people literally can't or won't see basic reality. 1 and 3 both are accurate. If someone read that and believed nobody would get COVID or spread COVID that was vaccinated then explain why the original study showed 94% efficacy against transmission. Then find out how many Americans are fully vaccinated and run the numbers on 6% of those people and you'll realize a ton of vaccinated people will get COVID. However, they are 29 times less likely to be hospitalized. Currently based on the original trial data around 11 million vaccinated people should get COVID. We have since learned the vaccine has a shelf life in our systems and Deltas replication approach makes it more difficult for the vaccine to react to the virus. Meaning that 94% is clearly much lower so the 11 million is not accurate. However, it does support the CDC statement above. #CAN #MAY

Watching the decision LSU just made...watching schools having so much difficulty keeping children in class...watching ICU's have unsafe, substandard care because of the overwhelming number of COVID cases should make us all at least pause to consider how little is being asked of us.

Plus, the hold up to get your negative test or card out would be awful going into the gates.
