2001 Miami most overrated team in history.

They beat 1 team ranked in the final ap poll Nebraska at #8.
Miami fans claim there was 40 plus players drafted off that team. If they were so loaded why did they only won 1 title in 2001 why not 2000 or 2002.
2002 they got screwed but talent wise they should have beaten OSU by 24.
They had a bunch of NFL talent but accomplishment wise 2001 was weak.

Should have won 2 in a row 2000-2002.

They probably should have played Oklahoma in 2000. They actually beat Florida State but that loss to Washington in game 2 was held against them all year.
They were definitely robbed in 2002.

I’ve always felt they and 95 Nebraska, while both great teams, are a little overrated. Not all of those 1st round draft picks on 01 Miami even played much that season
I can’t believe there’s not a Saban coached team that has as many of not more 1st rd draft picks on one of his teams

Second best team of all time!

What a terrible take. The correct answer is 1990 Georgia Tech who beat one good team in Clemson.

2001 Tennessee would have given them a game in the Rose Bowl. 2001 Florida would have been a tough out for the U too that year. Thanks LSU and John Chavis

This. Who even challenged them that year with a tough game? Was Florida State any good in 2001? Their schedule was arse patties that year if I remember correctly. 2001 Tennessee/Florida would have given them the toughest shot in the Rose Bowl, at least better than Nebraska did that year.

Boston College had them beat until Ed Reed did Ed Reed shite

What a misguided take. Miami could have named the score against Nebraska in the Rose Bowl. 2001 was still an era before the PlayStation offenses like today. Miami could have won 3 in a row but as another poster mentioned, they got down big early and the rally fell short against Tuiasosopo and Washington in the 2nd game. Miami paid them back the next season 62-7. FSU laid an egg against Oklahoma and that gave OU the title. The 2003 Fiesta Bowl OT pass interference was robbery even though Miami should have won regardless and not give up a 4th & 12. A 34 game winning streak and only 1 title is hard to do but losing the 2nd game then the final game 2 seasons later will do that. 4 horseman, recognize…

The answer.
Any single one of us could have done what Coker accomplished with that team, by simply never showing up and letting the assistants run the show and most importantly the players on the field.
The talent was insane.

'95 Nebraska gets a lot of love because of how badly they beat Florida in the Fiesta Bowl.
IMO, the main reason for the lopsided score was Nebraska had spent years preparing to play teams out of Florida (and their Heisman-caliber passing QB's) in bowl games. They played FSU and Miami year after year after year in bowl games, and those FSU and Miami teams originally rose to prominence by overtaking Nebraska and Oklahoma in the '80s and were also used to their run-oriented styles. Florida, however, wasn't. They never had to focus on Nebraska and Oklahoma.
FSU wasn't quite as good as Florida in '95, but they probably wouldn't have gotten the complete shite beat out of them in the Fiesta Bowl the way UF did due to familiarity with Nebraska.
Now I'm not necessarily saying '95 Nebraska isn't the GOAT, but that one game gets blown out of proportion due to a style mismatch.

UGA would’ve beaten both Miami and Ohio St. in 2002.

Well that and also how badly they beat just about everyone else.
@ Oklahoma State (64-21)
@ Michigan State (50-10)
vs. Arizona State (77-28)
vs. Pacific (49-7)
vs. Washington State (35-21)
vs. Missouri (57-0)
vs. #8 Kansas State (49-25)
@ #7 Colorado (44-21)
vs. Iowa State (73-14)
@ #10 Kansas (41-3)
vs. Oklahoma (37-0)
vs. #2 Florida (62-24)
They averaged 53.2 points per game and nearly 557 yards per game on offense. And the crazy thing about that offense is that it wasn't just a Cam Newton or a Joe Burrow who was responsible for most of the production. It was everyone. Tommie Frazier was clearly the emotional leader of the team and in command of the offense, but the man didn't have gaudy stats in 1995. He just managed the offense as perfectly as a QB could in that particular system.

Correct. Their actual season was nothing special for a national champion.

Unpopular opinion, Tennessee could have beaten Miami in 2001

I think there was an undefeated BYU team who was named national champs after beating a 6-5 Michigan team in their bowl game.
