Actually up to date... would've expected more orange covering SC due to strong bandwagonism amongst Clemson fans with high school diplomas/GEDs. Might be giving them too much credit.. I'll drop it down to middle school education level.

I don't think this map is correct.
The state of Kansas for example. There is no way that the entire state is for K-State or Kansas.
If it was accurate, it would be the Manhattan as K-State, Lawrence as Kansas. Then the northern part of the state is Nebraska fans, and the southern part of the state is Oklahoma fans.

Where is Southern Cal? Am I missing something?

SHelby County is weird. There are large numbers of Tennessee, Ole Miss, Memphis, Arkansas, State, and even Alabama fans.
Yep, it's a melting pot of SEC alumni who've moved here over the years for careers at FedEx, St. Jude, AutoZone, etc. Then add in all of the Shelby County residents/students who choose to attend an SEC school over the University of Memphis and then move back after graduation.

Was about to make the same comment.
By this (dubious) methodology, it appears that at no location in the United States is USC the favorite team.

Arkansas
Wyoming
Nebraska
Wisconsin
Maine
The only teams their whole state belongs to.

Twitter Followers could be a horrible metric. I know a lot of people that don't use twitter.
Facebook is probably more comprehensive

Didn’t know Mississippi State would be that much more widespread than Ole Miss.
The average Mississippian can really relate to the Ag school. Ole Miss draws from Jackson Memphis and other major metro areas in the south.

I see you Arkansas, encroaching on our southern borders.
SW Missouri is basically part of the Borg like NW Arkansas growth at this point. I expect, in a decade or so, to see chunks of NE Oklahoma fully in the Hog camp as well. Not an insult to either Mizzou or the Okies, but the Hogs are the team of the Ozarkopolis and that is going to expand into the bordering regions of both states.

Weird cause state fans follow Ole Miss more closely than they do state so the map should really be the other way around lol. We talking registered team or who they talk about more? Cause if it's the latter then the state should be blue.

eh, I'd sday for a large city, Memphis has more townies than anywhere. It's largely because one of those schools is the biggest school in the state (Tennessee) and the rest are a few hours drive. Ole Miss is an hour away, State a couple hours away, Tuscaloosa a few hours away, Memphis is obviously in the city, and there are a ton of Arkansas fans with the state being just across the river. Alabama is a newer thing, assuming because they've been so good. I never saw that many Alabama fans growing up in Memphis
