I for one appreciate geographic and cultural integrity. If I’m not scared of Texas, Oklahoma, Alabama, FSU, Georgia, etc why the hell would I care if Michigan and Ohio State join? We are undefeated vs Ohio State.
The fact of the matter is if Michigan and Ohio state join the SOUTHEASTERN conference this just becomes a clown show I want no business being a part of or fan of anymore.

BS You're gonna be parked in front of TV the first game of the season no matter if those schools join or not.
BTW I'm not buying the OSU/UM angle to this story. They own the BIG which currently has the most lucrative TV deal in CFB and unlike the ACC and BIG XII, almost the entire conference is on solid financial ground.

Michigan hasn't owned the Big Ten since Cooper was Ohio State coach. I do see a new league eventually forming down the road. Every thing I have read about Texas and Oklahoma is it's could be a done deal by next week. Who knows. I do know that there are some schools that are a world wide brand and just saying their name most people know who they are. And Ohio State and Michigan is some of those schools along with Bama, Georgia and Florida. I'm just looking forward to football this fall !

They own it terms of influence and finances along with OSU

Why? Both schools are hugely successful in terms of finances...both are top 5 in overall revenue.

Sure and I don't see em losing their brand recognition if they stay with the BIG

Clemson and FSU? Okay I guess, but I feel like adding Clemson has some real shades of recency bias.
Michigan and OSU? No thanks.

If this is the case the conference will need a name change. You think schools in the midwest can live with the initials SEC?

frick that. We in the swc

n care if FSU and Clemson join but if Michigan and Ohio state do I’m done. That’s just retarded.
That would mean SEC will replace NCAA. That is a good thing……
SEC=NFL minor league then.

No way it's true but the east and west pods look very entertaining

And if the SEC is going to become that league, then why do schools like Vandy or Miss St get to automatically be in the super-league just because they joined 100 years ago?
It's been over 1/2 a year since Bama won a national championship in anything.

Michigan and Ohio State believe that the SEC is the butthole of planet earth. They are extremely image conscious. Professors would walk off the job before being associated with Alabama and LSU. They are AAU for a reason. B1G takes RESEARCH seriously. There is no way they are going to walk away from all that B1G research $$$. They want to get 16 AAU's in the B1G.

Why?
Do you know how many championships and other events they run across all divisions in the most mundane sports?
Do you want the SEC policing all those schools that it has no affiliation with?
Screw that.

No, this is only about football.
The NCAA would still regulate all the other sports. But if we get football away from the NCAA, the schools could (for example) pay football players a direct salary.
All the other sports would continue to be regulated by the NCAA. There's a lot more competitive balance across the NCAA in basketball, and way more schools are actually capable of winning a title. And, in every other sport, there's no financial incentive to ditch the NCAA.

No way FSU comes to the SECthe gators would fight that move way more then aTm is fighting the Texas move.

What’s Florida gunna do to stop it if other schools decide?

The only two that make a modicum of sense are FSU and Clemson. Add VA and VA TECH and there's your 20 teams.
Posted on 7/24/21 at 7:25 am to Farmer1906
The only way any of that is true is that we are looking at the destruction of the NCAA

Sounds more like starting a new league to replace the NCAA than expanding a conference.

Honest question why would this bother you? Not looking for a gotcha moment just curious.

Honestly, I would welcome Clemson and FSU to the SEC with open arms. They certainly fit the mold.
