Alabama coach Nick Saban hasn't officially named Bryce Young the Crimson Tide's starting quarterback, and yet Saban says that Young is already approaching $1 million in endorsement deals.
According to reports, Saban told the Texas High School Coaches Association's convention on Tuesday that Young, a sophomore, is due to make "ungodly numbers."
While Saban wouldn't divulge the specifics of the deals Young has signed, Saban said the total compensation is "almost seven figures."
"And it's like, the guy hasn't even played yet," Saban said, according to The Athletic. "But that's because of our brand."
Young signed a deal to be represented by Creative Artists Agency on July 2 - the day after the NCAA allowed athletes to profit off their name, image and likeness.
So far, Young's only public endorsement has been in the form of a tweet for the company Cash App.
A former five-star prospect, Young spent last season as the primary backup to starting quarterback Mac Jones, who was drafted in the first round by the New England Patriots.
While Young hasn't been named the starter heading into this season, he's the presumptive favorite to earn the position after leading the first-team offense in April's spring game.
Young appeared in nine games last season, completing 13 of 22 passes for 156 yards and a touchdown.
Alabama is scheduled to open the season against Miami on Sept. 4.

But I've been told by the experts on this board that the NIL would level the playing field and Bama's reign of terror would come to a screeching halt.

I’ve just assumed that the NIL will make the rich even richer…Literally now

Not many people on the MSB have agreed. Apparently it is going to level the playing field.
Yeah

NIL is going to become a haves vs. have nots situation real quick.
Some upstarts might swing a couple of victories/change their status a little, but the big boys will continue to eat and grow through NIL activity.

This will turn into Gordon's quote from the Nolan Batman movies:
"We start carrying semi-automatics, they buy automatics. We start wearing Kevlar...they buy armor-piercing rounds."
Big money will always walk and talk like it wants

Lane Kiffin was just asked about this, his response was like Wow, I don't know how to respond, $1 million and he hasn't played a game yet

Again?
So he's up to $2 million now?

This will easily overtake the desire to actually get a degree or get to the NFL. Just stay for 4 years at Alabama and become a multi-millionaire.

Kiffin was asked another question by some AGGIE press and he was like man, I can't get over Young getting $1million already and not playing a game, he should just sit out the game against us!!

Is that per interception or per wins ?
Either way 900k is impressive.

You think other schools are going to have trouble competing with bumblefrick Bama boosters?
Now that it’s legal to pay players, wealthy boosters at numerous schools won’t hesitate to drop coin.
Sure… you can do Bama, or get paid more somewhere to be the marketing face of the program and not have to wait or compete for a spot.
And places will learn quickly when guys they market flame out hard or transfer to play with their money more carefully.

It is going to be interesting to see how the other players on the rosters(starters and backups) react to a couple of stars making on the cash. Playing time is one thing but money is another.
