Looking back, is it just me or did all he ever care about was making a splash hire and winning the press conference?

He hired BMFP, JLS, and fat Bert.
All names people knew

Yuracheck if we are honest has hired almost no one we knew or was on the radar at any point.

Never heard of Musselman, Pittman was a joke until signed, even Jordan Wieber. I don’t think she was really on the radar.

Long is a politician. Talked a good game, smiles for the cameras but had no idea what he was doing. Yuracheck seems to be someone who understands the landscape of college athletics and knows how to vet coaching candidates.

Like politicians, AD's bad decisions usually aren't immediately obvious. Long did significant damage to our sports programs. Just look at what he did in Kansas.

Half the time people say "friends of the program" or the "board of trustees" or Jerry Jones are making these hires

My one beef with Yuracheck is he seems to pride himself on not overpaying for a coach. Everyone is happy with pittboss, but let's not act like he was Yuracheck's first choice. That coaching search dragged on for weeks. It seems we had several guys tell us no because of money.

I mean does anyone think Pittman will elevate us to a top 20 program? I don't. He's here to restore us to a middle of the pack SEC program.

Musselman was well known and towards the top of most power 5 school opening lists, if for nothing more than online discussions.

The questions were how he would do or if he would recruit highschool players and how the transfer game would work out in a power conference.

It's a little different taking guys looking for playing time from power 5 rosters and competing in the MWC, MVC, OVC, or conusa versus bringing in guys who can play in the SEC. I think if anyone was being completely honest most of the transfers being brought up from the lower conferences gave an at best wait and see approach as to if they would contribute before now. It has worked out and could draw comparisons to a coach who supplemented his roster of his recruits with JUCO transfers in the past if one wanted to have a real discussion about the topic.

Hunter's hiring those who want to be here approach as with Muss and Pitman sounds great, but the real test would be if one of them was lack luater to mediocre at best and if he would keep them because they want to be here, love the helmet, etc or if he'd go out and find the next one who wanted to be here. Firing Chad was a no brainer, so nothing is to be learned from this, hiring him delayed his return to Texas HS football in the first place.
