Alabama Track and Field Distance Crew Notches Wins at Maroon and White Invitational

Eliud Kipsang won the 800 meters, while Victor Kiprop took top honors in the 1,500 meters

The Alabama track & field distance crew picked up a pair of wins at the Maroon and White Invitational in Starkville, Miss., Friday night.

The Crimson Tide went one-two in the men's 800 meters with Eliud Kipsang running a 1:48.49 to take the win and Jacob Lamb turning in a 1:48.92 for second.

Victor Kiprop (3:40.79) and Jace Jones (3:50.09) took first and fourth in the 1,500 meters. Kiprop's time ranks him fourth all-time at UA.

Riley Schelp went 4:43.43 to take third in the women's 1,500 meters.

Alabama Track and Field Goes Big in Regular-Season Finale

The Crimson Tide posted 25 top-five finishes during Saturday’s LSU Invitational

Alabama track and field closed out its outdoor season with the LSU Invitational in Baton Rouge, La., Saturday, tallying more than two-dozen top-five finishes, including at trio of top finishes.

Alan de Falchi took first in the men's discus with a toss of 59.65 meters, while Hailey Poole took first among collegians in the women's javelin with a career-best throw of 50.49 meters, which ranks her fifth all-time at UA. Bobby Colantonio Jr. posted a throw of 69.37 meters to take first among collegians.

Tarsis Orogot ran a career-best 20.15 in the men's 200 meters, which ranks him fourth all-time at UA, while Emmanuel Ineh posted a leap of 7.86 meters in the men's long jump invitational, ranking him among UA's top-10 at No. 8. Chago Basso threw a career-best 19.30 meter, strengthening his grip on fifth all-time at UA.

Crimson Tide Top-Five Finishes at LSU Invitational
*Alabama took first, second and fifth in the men's discus, led by Alan de Falchi (59.65 meters), Jerimiah Evans (58.21 meters) and Chago Basso (49.13 meters)
*Hailey Poole (50.49 meters) and Samantha Zelden (49.24 meters) took first and second among collegians in the women's javelin
*Bobby Colantonio Jr. (69.37 meters) and Kieran McKeag (69.07 meters) took first and second among collegians in the men's hammer throw
*Samantha Kunza (61.03 meters) and Kassidy Gallagher (60.44 meters) took second and third among collegians in the women's hammer throw
*Mark Shannon (3:53.33) took second, while Brady Barton (3:59.06) and Collin Jones (4:04.32) went fourth and fifth among collegians in the men's 1,500 meters
*Corde Long finished second among collegians in the men's 110-meter hurdles with a time of 13.90
*Emmanuel Ineh was third among collegians in the long jump invitational with a leap of 7.86 meters, which ranks him among UA's top-10
*Christal Mosley, Amari Brown, Na'Taja Ballard and Amara Obi ran a 3:34.28 to take third in the 4x400-meter relay
*Khaleb McRae (45.89) and Leander Forbes (46.16) took third and fourth among collegians in the men's 400 meters
*Cross Derriso finished third in the men's pole vault after clearing 4.81 meters
*Tarsis Orogot posted a huge 20.15 in the men's 200 meters, taking third among collegians
*Basso posted a career-best throw of 19.30 meter to finish fourth among collegians in the men's shot put
*Quincy Scott posted a leap of 7.34 meters to take fourth among collegians in the men's long jump
*Gavin Saacke took fourth in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:29.03
*Nickolette Dunbar used a toss of 15.83 meters to take fourth among collegians in the women's shot put
*Sydney Milani (1:00.22) finished fourth among collegians in the women's 400-meter hurdles
*Talaya Lewis, Amari Brown, Na'Taja Ballard and Ayla Stanisclaus combined to take fourth among collegians in the 4x100-meter relay after posting a 44.04
