Being out of arms is being out coached. I don’t see how you don’t see that. That’s coaching. Everyone knows the SEC tournament means nothing if you’re already gonna be in the big tournament.

That was always the knock on DVH. He didn’t care about it cause he knew he had to look forward to the regional. This year he changed. Granted we have a pitcher that’s damn near can’t be hit.

Like everyone else has said. You have to have been there before to understand coaching this time of year.

The most talented team doesn’t always win this time of year. You have to have a coach that’s been there and knows how to navigate it. Pretty simple!

Being able to navigate a tournament format, mostly with a pitching staff, is not easy. And it’s why Mainieri has always put more emphasis on the SECT. It’s a great tool to teach your team how to play in not ideal circumstances in the NCAAT and get kids to step up and throw significant innings when they need to. It’s fairly easy to manage a staff through a regular season: get young kids practice in midweek games and throw the same three guys each weekend. You can’t always do that in the NCAAT
