In case anyone cares the On3 Auburn website goes live today. Story and Fair are in the initial top 300.
Interested in knowing if/when their rankings are added to the composite

Just crazy to me that Terry started Rivals, 247, and now ON3.
That gets added to the composite and his sites make up over half the composite

Well I thought the "rumor" was we were expected to have 11 commits by August. I'm just doing my best hair on fire impersonation. Oh yeah I know it's just August.
And I'm sure someone will come back and say oh they meant by the end of August.
Everything was fine, with us just talking recruiting until you had to post this.
Was this a reminder on your smart phone for August 1st, to make sure you complained about not getting to 11 commits by August?
I just don't understand why you come across with these 'told you so' comments about recruiting, and then it derails everything we are trying to talk about in recruiting.
You baffle me...you have decent posts, then 'bam' you derail it all with 'negative' comments...

Starts Rivals, sells site to Yahoo. Starts 247, sells site to CBS. Dude is pretty good at what he does.

There is nothing to be baffled by, I'll lay it out for you:
He's an Auburn fan who obviously got way too emotionally attached to Gus Malzahn, to the point that he swayed too far from "Auburn football" itself. That led to him spending years defending a failing coach. After that coach was rightfully fired, the ego is put under attack because one is challenged to come to grips with having to admit to themselves that they were wrong after all those years of blind support. The other option is to feint being an "Auburn fan" while secretly hoping that the new coach fails. This option pleases and protects the ego, because if the new coach does in fact fail, then the individual was never "wrong" in the first place; in fact their years of foolishly defending a failing coach are confirmed! "See, I told you all along that Gus Malzahn was great and we were wrong to chase him away!". The ego naturally gravitates to this option when one's own reputation/competency is put into question.
This "group" would rather be proven "right" and die on the molehill of "Gus Malzahn was a great Auburn coach who we'll regret firing", than shift gears and admit they were wrong after all these years and choose to get excited and support a new coach and new vision for Auburn football. That's why he literally can't prevent himself from finding any little thing to complain about. This was an incredibly easy exercise during the expected slow start to recruiting, but now that recruiting is stabilizing back to normalcy and trending back upwards - he's forced into shifting the goal posts and reaching to find things to paint Harsin's staff as failures for; like what you just witnessed where he's trying to find a failure in the fact that we "only" have 8 commitments and not the "predicted" 11, even though we're literally going to pick up another commit in 2 days (Albert), and potentially Drew Bobo right after that. Oh no! The "predictions" were off by ~1-2 weeks! Harsin sucks!
The most ironic part of this saga is that while these Gus Bus clowns were yucking it up and going on about our "recruiting failure", they failed to realize that their golden-boy hasn't picked up a commitment in almost a full month. UCF is stuck at the same amount of commits as we currently have (and they're about to get passed), and Gus hasn't even been able to out-recruit Sonny Dykes and SMU in the AAC. But wait, I thought this was one "one of the best recruiters in the country" (CorchJay literally described Malzahn as such in a different thread recently) who carried the hype of being a proven SEC head coach, moving down in level/competition to UCF - a school that realistically should be the crown-jewel of the AAC. Shouldn't Gus Malzahn be dominating recruiting in that conference by now? What's going on there? Isn't it interesting that Bryan Harsin coming into a completely different geographical region with no connections and no recruiting visits taking place due to COVID doesn't get a "pass", but Gus Malzahn with all his advantages and name-brand luster who moved to a school within the same region he already coached/recruited in, hasn't even been able to do what these clowns have literally been spending months ragging on Harsin about? Isn't Gus Malzahn literally recruiting the same players/schools that he would have been recruiting for years now at Auburn? So what is HIS excuse? He should already have a pre-established relationship with the high schools he's recruiting and should already be a "known commodity" to all those players. Is he bleaching his hair because he's already finding out that he can't recruit without the 'Auburn Tigers' name brand to sell?

He might’ve started coaching “like his head is on fire.”
Ok. I’ll see myself out.

Yeah. Some people are little too emotionally attached to Gus and want their perception to stick despite the overwhelming evidence.
When Gatewood was a recruit I got a little too emotionally attached to the idea that he would be our next Cam. That bit me in the butt when he lost the quarterback race. As one with an ego it’s not an easy thing to say I was wrong, but it was still the easier path than doing mental gymnastics explaining favoritism, and Kentucky not training him up right either, etc.

Can I get a TLDR for that? You can't be posting paragraphs like that on here

I really like our coaching staff and appreciate how hard they are working. Tbh I am surprised and disappointed that our Oline recruiting has not gotten going since W Friend has been coaching in the SEC and should have had some relationships with recruits.

I think Gus is going to do fine at UCF. I wish his learning curve at AU was steeper on roster management. That was his downfall. His players always played hard for him and his staff, which is the ultimate judge of a coach and future success. You can't say that about Chizik's staff at the end. If I were the ultimate decision-maker I probably wouldn't have fired Gus this off-season, but I'm glad we hired Harsin. He seems to have a Saban-style plan and I'm glad for it. I've always thought of AU being a Permian HS type place, where we do more with less, particularly on culture. Harsin seems big on that aspect.

I hated Gus from the moment we lined up our 7th player at QB vs Clemson then had a FB throw a pass on 4th down while the game was in reach. Gus was never the same after the FSU loss and only got more arrogant and stubborn as time went on. Never adapted his offense, didn't recruit linemen, then ran up the middle non stop. There obviously was more wrong with Gus, including awful player development, and anyone ignoring that knows nothing about football. Gus came damn close to ruining us, 1 more year in charge and we would be off the rails. To blame Harsin, or anyone other coach, for not filling gaping holes all over the roster immediately with 4 and 5 * players they have only begun meeting in person is equally unreasonable.

There isn't a single comment about me in this wall of text that applies. I'm AU 100 percent. I support any Auburn coach until the day they are fired Just like I did Dye, Tot, Tubs, Chizik, Gus... and will Harsin. I'm just honest enough with myself to realize things aren't looking up they are starting to look bleak. Harsin isn't getting 8-10 years to rebuild something that wasn't broken. The history of Auburn football tells us that we have a shot at an SEC championship about twice a decade. In between those years we will have some good teams and some very average teams. My concern is the recruiting. As a coach I know scheme means some but the Jimmy's and Joe's mean everything.
I stand by that Gus was on of the best Head Coach recruiters in the game. Evidenced by our overall recruiting and his ability to close in Jan and Feb.
Also my complaint isn't really about the number of commits. It's about anything that goes against the "board think" is out of bounds or crazy. So when the complaint was how far behind we are based purely on numbers the folks came out and states we will have 11 by August. So a build in excuse for the new staff. I like Harsin and have stated as much but the concern for the overall staff was can they run with the big dogs in recruiting in the SEC. Right now I would say my concerns are justified.
To answer the Gus thing. No I don't think Gus should have been fired. I was a Gus supporter. I think he's a better coach then most on here believe but that's ok everyone is entitled to their opinion. With Covid and the unusual circumstances of last year I thought he should have been given another year to coach and reduce the buyout. So two fold on reasons to keep him. Now that's he's gone I thank him for his service and what appear to have been a clean program that didn't have us on the front cover of news papers for the wrong reasons. But now that he's gone frick him and frick his team. Again my opinion and you and everyone else is entitled to have one.
Just remember when yall are bitching about not having the talent to compete with Texas Oklahoma Alabama LSU UGA and UF and are on the struggle bus against Ole Miss, Miss State and South Carolina that it was mentioned 2-3 years earlier by that idiot CorchJay
