So 2019 LSU barely beat mediocre teams last year?? True, it was closer that it should have been against a1abama.

Based on 8pgs the real answer is this... bama fans are claiming the greatest season ever because LSU sucked this year. So in this 2020, if bama wins out and is mediocre next year then will the shoe still fit??? No, because these are AAALLLLLLAAAABBBBAAAMMMMAAAAA fans people.

If only the two played last year to give us some kind of better than educated guess!

LSU went 9-0 against SEC teams including the SECCG... bama went 11-0 against SEC teams including the SECCG.
LSU beat SEC teams ranked: 3, 4, 7 and 9.
bama beat SEC teams ranked: 3, 7, 13 and 22.
Being consistent if we just looked at SEC games, the nod has to go to Bama.
But for an overall season just at this point, I'd give a slight edge to LSU.

Lmfao that’s funny! The offensive numbers aren’t as good as LSU’s last year, and they’ve played 3 teams with a winning record? ????

The word best generally requires an opinion....the same applies here.

According to Simple Rating System (SRS), 2019 LSU has the highest SRS of any SEC FB team in the last 40 years.
Highest SRS by a SEC football team since 1980
1. 2019 LSU- 25.80
2. 2016 Alabama- 25.62
3. 2008 Florida- 25.37
4. 2018 Alabama- 25.29
5. 2012 LSU- 24.51
6. 2011 Alabama- 24.44
7. 2011 LSU- 24.27
8. 1980 Alabama- 23.80
9. 2015 Alabama- 23.72
10. 2009 Alabama- 23.69
And 2020 Bama's SRS is basically the same as their team from last year although it'll definitely shoot up if they beat Notre Dame and Clemson/Ohio State. The problem is the SEC was really down this year. The "second best" team in the SEC was Texas A&M who beat a bunch of bad teams by low margins, isn't ranked as a top 10 team by most analytic models, and generally looked very uninspiring for most of the season. The third best team in the SEC, Florida doesn't play any defense. The fourth best team in the SEC, Georgia didn't have a passing game until late November when JT Daniels was finally healthy enough to play. By then, it was too little too late. LSU was awful. It was just a bad league this year which is why 2020 Bama's SRS is as low as it is. They have to beat Notre Dame and Clemson convincingly for them to even get in the conversation. I personally don't think they're as good as the championship teams from 2009-2012 or were as good in the regular season as the teams from 2016 or 2018 who obliterated better opponents.

What was LSU ranked at the beginning of this year? Can Bama claim a top 10 win in Baton Rouge this year?
???
I get not claiming 2019 Texas was a top 10 win, but this is a dumbass analogy, and I would hope you could see why

Season isn't over yet. Can Bama finish? That injury to Dickerson is problematic, and it doesn't look like Waddle is going to make it back

Hey, I'm just trying to play by the bama rules. I tried keeping it ALL SEC game comparison and then A1ABAMA fans bring up non-SEC cupcake game. It's also like bama is the only team in the SEC not to play any cupcake games.

Wouldn't it be prudent to wait until the actual end of the season to start this thread?

I think the SEC teams that LSU played averaged a better ranking than those bama played this year. HOWEVER, in SEC only plus the SECCG.... bama scored 113 more points than LSU. While defensively, both allowed 214. Now I could be off but I'll give LSU the nod as it applies to ranked SEC opponents and bama the nod in the overall points scored category.

Not really, considering tons of bama fans have been claiming that already. Besides, don't bama fans already know the outcome? #1 playing #4... #1 then playing #3. Same as last year except LSU played an undefeated Clemson.

Congrats on fixing half the errors in your title.
Wonder if you can figure out the other one?

So you're completely discounting any possibility of winning for ND and tOSU?...and how badly Alabama's gonna beat them and Clemson?...you must be a helluva football prognosticator, my friend!

At the end of the day, if Bama wins the playoff, I’m sure this discussion will come up again. It’s useless to talk about until then now matter how heavily the stats point to 2020 Bama in fact playing more cupcakes than 2019 LSU
