The game was postponed because State didnt meet the numbers. Exact same situation.
You're playing this weekend because everyone knows that games postponed from here out wont be made up and Leach would rather get the reps than not.

There is a really high possibility we don't have 53 for the rest of the season yet we are flying to play top 10 Georgia right now.

I think the difference in last week and this week for State is that they got some linemen back and are above the minimum at the specific positions you have to be (QB, OL, DL). They have different guys out this week at other positions where you have more leeway as far as the limits go. I know specifically that three of the guys who are out consist of one WR and two LB's, all who are major contributors.
I mean if this game is remotely close then it's a bigger accomplishment for State than beating LSU was. I would be loading up on Georgia -25 right now.

That is exactly how I read this.
Leach is using this game to evaluate who has potential for 2021. Their season is done.

It's not about total numbers as it is about position groups
LSU had one scholarship QB available
RB WR TE was all decimated
DB especially S was decimated
That was the reason they didn't play
But keep on with your meaningless season
The only teams still playing for anything are Fla and Bama
And if I was NFL eligible I would recommend opting out rather than risk injury the rest of the way
