Recruited for the spread then decided the Power game that Bama was running was the way to go forward.

I remember it, and I agree it seemed that he had lost the team, and was not willing to change his ways. On Saturday when they showed him on SEC network during the post game show. They showed his achievements, when I saw his record at Auburn, I didn’t think it was to horrible..

There weren't any other NFL players on that offense. We had the best offensive and defensive players in college football on that squad with a bunch of other solid but not exceptional players

Not following..do you mean they had many NFL players on that squad or a deficit? As I recalled they had many.

Thst is true with any team. How would Bama have done without Henry or Tua or LSU without Burrow? Maybe not 8 games, but one play makes a difference every year.

if you believe message board rumors there was internal fighting not only within the roster but also within the coaching staff

trooper and chizik both were reportedly getting on non-speaking terms with each other as both had separate coaching camps set up

one of the players spoke publicly about it during a press conference in 2012 i believe it was ricardo louis i dont really remember but i do know he publicly said in a press conference in mid october of 2012 that "This team has no leadership everybody talks about they want to win but no ones showing it on the field"

lutzy came to the defense of the team trying to hush it up. but it didnt work

i remember reading alot of posts on auburn boards most notably aufamily folks saying they saw coaches and players jawing with each other on sidelines during games

one guy on aufamily said he sat right behind the sidelines of the auburn coaching staff during the ulm game and that he saw several coaches and players jawing back and forth

i was at the ulm game i didnt see anything like that but then again i wasnt sitting behind the coaches sideline

it also didnt help that chizik had his own personal watchdog spying on van-gorder and lefty during practice

chizik was actually caught on tv during the lsu game that year shouting something in leftys year during the final minutes if you can read lips then it was "I needed the yards for the field goal." and lefty just nodded his head and said "Yeah"

I have heard many different things as to what went wrong. I have heard disgruntled players say he became a total control freak and treated them like NAzi Germany...then on another front I have heard that he delegated too much to his Assistants and then ended up losing the team.

I was a sophomore that year and was walking by Village Dining one night when two FB players (idk who, but they had the top-to-bottom Under Armour get-up) randomly walked up to me, asked if I though Chizik should be fired, and then went off to “poll” other folks

I was like a deer in headlights “Uhhhh idk”

One thing Chiz does deserve credit for is keeping team focused during 2010 national championship run. Regardless of your feelings about Cam Newton, Chiz managed that “crisis” successfully and kept the team focused.

From Auburn's 2010 team there wasn't another offensive skill player other than Cam to take a snap in the NFL. We had a few linemen that did and one tailback that was converted to cornerback. Quite a few defensive players, some of which are still playing, made the NFL. We also had one receiver that had a great CFL career. There just wasn't much NFL talent on that offense (that could stay out of trouble enough to get drafted) except for Newton.

Crap, you're bad. He wasn't taking a dig at Auburn. Look at the threads he has created today. He was asking a simple question wanting to get some conversation going. We have some trolls among our fan base (as do most teams) but he isn't one of them. Responses like yours are why some Georgia fans begin trolling Auburn, though.

i was at the ulm game. lsu game texas a&m game and new mexico state game that year

at the a&m game most in my section were only there for the halftime show one guy sitting beside me said " I wish Lowder was still here" i said "Why" he said "Because Lowder was one of the only folks that tried to stop us from hiring chizik, if he were still here chizik would still be relying on popcorn and hotdog sales at iowa state"

i left the game late in the 2nd quarter and thought to myself "Wow if im chizik and i knew some are praying for Bobby Lowder then id walk up to jacobs and gouge tomorrow and say gimme my pink slip now please"

he got a little too big for his britches after the NC (stuff like requiring players to make appointments with a secretary to meet with him; imposing a curfew, etc.), so that once things started looking down, the team just kinda quit on him

Yeah, I've heard things like he would hand out some discipline to a player and the player would then go bitch to his position coach about it and the position coach would tell the player "ah, don't worry about it, I'll straighten it out". Nobody in the building respected him and he was an arrogant prick.
