Phew, good thing that ranked #124 scoring defense can stay in Arkansas.
EDIT: Derp, I'm an idiot.

Well thank god for that.

I’m going to assume you know that he wasn’t the DC in Arkansas last year. He was busy heading up the team that finished 15th in scoring defense.

Nope, when OP uses the phrase "stay at Arkansas" I took it to mean he was on the team last year.
I see they got the old Mizzou head coach though. Cool. #16 scoring defense is nothing to snuff at.

I would assume that you realize two teams can both give up the same exact amount of points but I’m not sure that’s a good assumption at this point.

They didn't though. Mizzou gave up 233 points in 12 games for 19.42 ppg. Washington gave up 252 points in 13 games for 19.38 ppg.
So while certainly it's a possibility, that's not what happened, which is why Mizzou had #16 scoring defense whereas Washington was #15. It's alright though, no big mistake on your part. Nothing compared to my mistake in thinking Arkansas kept their old DC.

OP was indeed confusing. I’m more interested in LSU fans acting as if they dodged a bullet. Odom is one of the best in the country and I think the highlight of the new Arkansas staff. Mizzou fans will miss the effect he had on that side of the ball.
ETA: that’s not a knock on who LSU ended up with. They’d have been good either way.

Mizzou fans are very happy with the way Walters is doing in recruiting and preventing one recruit from St. Louis to go to Arkansas that was recruited by Odom. Odom just cannot recruit well and that is why Mizzou was bad last year and couldn't get better recruits to compete in the SEC. Drinkwitz got a lot better recruits than Odom have done when he was the HC at Mizzou. That is a huge plus for mizzou! I am, very happy the offense should be a lot better too since, Drinkwitz is going to be installing the offense and knows offense unlike Odom who failed to hired a good OC.

Only problem with Odom was he failed to get a good OC and the offense is what killed Mizzou and got Odom fired. Also his recruiting class was way down. Not a good recruiter. Drinkwitz is a lot better HC and a good recruiter. A huge upgrade at the HC position. Key is to get both the offense and the defense to compete in the SEC. Odom failed to fix the offense.

Not a good recruiter.
Fortunately we do have some excellent recruiters on the staff, which God knows we are going to need, so Odom can focus on trying to bring the defense back to life.
Even though we are starved for talent I fear we may have do some more addition by subtraction. Some of the players Chad brought in are barely G5 level talent, much less SEC.

Guessing he didn’t want to bail out before coaching s game.. honorable I guess. That said, I like the guy we got.

Eh
I'm happy with who we got
He would've been nice but I know Bo is gonna bring back that classic aggressive LSU defense that we love, so I'm good either way.

Chad brought in some talent but he had no idea what to do with it.

I’m just trying to figure out what sec program will give chavis a job
Or does he end up on saban’s shadow staff

I could see him doing some consulting work. I think he's too old and too set in his ways to be an effective DC today. Plus, at his age, would he really want the day to day stress of being a coach? He's got more money than some third world countries after all.

I thought Odom was a Mizzou coach?
Posted on 7/5/20 at 8:43 am to nicholastiger
He doesn't. He was just collecting a check here. Maybe Saban's personal janitor?
