Spurrier was just out of the USFL actually. Bowden was also a potential as LSU was a big-time program in the mid-80’s.
We didn’t have a private fundraising arm, we didn’t have a logo, it all really seemed small-time. New Orleans players went to FSU and ND or Michigan. We waited years to fire coaches who were awful right out of the gate I guess to be polite

Ah, that’s right. He ended up going to Duke when we didn’t give him the light of day. Thanks for the reminder.
