The two lowest days, the 24th and 31st were both Tuesdays.
Not sure of any coincidence

Must have been low on tests on the 31st.

There are probably fewer people tested on the weekends, and a lot of those results probably come in on Tuesday’s, so Tuesday’s have fewer new cases.

I am opinionated about the US and its faults, sure, but I have usually kept most of that to myself in year's past. In the last several months I've said my piece, but I've very lately begun to let that crap go because I believe the US is simply doomed.

Please continue to let it go. No one really cares about your opinion. Americans will get through this together.

The reality is that y'all are straight fricked, medically and economically - and it's fricking sad, man. I'm not arguing; I'm fricking bummed

The U.S. will be just fine in the long run. We have been through tougher times and I am totally confident we will get our hands around this situation and we will come out a better prepared and stronger for this. This country has faced darker and more dangerous times

quote:

Good luck everyone with your country, your election, and your virus.

Thanks and stay the frick out you miserable unpatriotic son of a bitch. Your fellow Americans will pull together without your help coward.

I was thinking maybe the lab(s) run smaller staffs on the weekends so they can't process as many tests. Be interesting if the numbers over the next couple of days increase again or drop back to the 110-120 per day of last week.

Also, if you're bored and want to see just how silly this entire "Alabama needs a stay at home order" crap is, here are links to the actual restrictions in place for us and surrounding states.

Alabama
Florida
Mississippi
Georgia
Tennessee

For the most part, change the name of the state and you can't tell the difference. Alabama's was enacted first on 3/20 then tightened on 3/27. Tennessee issued theirs on 3/30, Florida and Mississippi on 4/1, and Georgia on 4/2. Interestingly, Florida's specifically lists "Attending religious services conducted in churches, synagogues and houses of worship" as an essential service wereas Alabama's says no gatherings for any reason of 10 or more and no gatherings of any size where 6' distance cannot be maintained.

So, the next time someone says Alabama doesn't have a stay at home order, just laugh at them. We went under one before any state that touches our borders. We just didn't give it the magic name.

The Alabama one seems to primarily be geared towards businesses. Most of the others have a paragraph specifically for private citizens. Some of those also state who can help enforce it and what the penalty is for violating it.

That's awful but I can't help but think what other choice do some of those people have if they work for essential businesses but live on the other side of town?

Let's go back to that mindset or face a timeout.

This is your warning.

Alabama's is part of the state law she referenced in it. By default, any sworn officer can enforce it. As far as the business part, I don't see that at all. Non business gatherings are the very first thing addressed in the Alabama order. Item 1 states all non-work related gatherings of 10 persons or more, or non-work related gatherings of any size that cannot maintain a consistent six-foot 3 distance between persons, are prohibited.

That leaves a lot of things still open and is a far cry from "stay at home except for essential activities."

I’m not going to pretend to know why these folks are on the subway, but there isn’t a good reason to be packed anywhere like this. The media continues to show almost barren streets in New York. This is the first time that I’ve seen this. The media needs to do their jobs and draw attention to the subway issue

As inconvenient as it would be, they need to look into shutting the subway down for a period.

There is plenty of coverage on it up here. You aren’t going to see it down south. I get MAX updates via google alert .

LINK

DeBlasio has ordered the police to pull people off the train. How effective the policing I don’t know but they are working on it. I agree they need to find a better way but they have to get people to the hospitals and other places and maneuvering New York on surface streets when the majority don’t have cars is difficult.
