Now do playoffs where the champ has to do it on the field. Exclude Bama and LSU.

I think you have to at least include the BCS here, if you’re being honest.

SEC teams with a title since the start of the CFP (2014):
Alabama
LSU

SEC teams with a title since the start of the BCS (1998):
Alabama
LSU
Florida
Auburn
Tennessee

Interestingly, the list doesn’t change if you go back to the Bowl Coalition or Bowl Alliance.

To the OP’s question, only two of those teams have finished bowl-eligible for each of the past 4 seasons: Kentucky (4 straight bowl games) and Mississippi State (10 straight). Feels to me like those two are in the best position currently to make a run, despite some of the others being more historically successful programs.
