Whatever the reason, I agree that the matchups are strange. Arkansas had better basketball rivalries with nearly every other SWC team than it had with TCU. Rice was the only team that was less competitive. Since 1949, Arkansas and Texas Tech are nearly tied in the series, while we've won nearly 70% of our games against TCU.

Yeah see, that's another good example.

Why can't the SEC home office ever get scheduling right in any sport?

Yes, it's based on last year's standings. But there are other factors that play into it to avoid matchups that have happened recently as well as to account for the SEC having 4 more teams. Something about if you finished 10th or above in the league over a 3-year avg or something. So it isn't always a 1 vs 1, 2 vs 2 for every match up every year.

Can't be that because SC has finished 10th or above average over the past three seasons .... easiky.

It’s based on where each team finished in conference last year. 1v1, 2v2, and so on

It looks like the 2017-2018 bottom 4 SEC teams were left out. I think they are left out next year as well.
