On Tuesday, UGASports reported that running back Brian Herrien has not been at practice and will not play in the Sugar Bowl for undisclosed reasons.

But when asked directly about the senior tailback, along with the status of D’Andre Swift and James Cook -who was arrested on a pair of misdemeanor charges of open container and not having a valid driver’s license- Smart was vague. "All that’s still to be determined. All those guys are healthy right now,” Smart said. “Swift is still recovering from his injury, but he’s out there practicing and doing everything we ask." As for Cook, Smart would not speculate if the sophomore running back would play in the Sugar Bowl. “With Cook it will start with internal discipline which it always does. As far as anything else, we’re still gathering information,” Smart said. “Anything grade-wise, any stuff like that, we’re still gathering that from the school.”
Also notes on Bobo
quote:
No offer for Bobo Smart said although he talked to Mike Bobo, no offer was ever made to the former Bulldog quarterback to return to the program as an assistant coach. "Yeah, I talk to Mike often and a lot because we're really good friends but as far as conversation about coming to coach at the University of Georgia, no,” Smart said. “He and I conversed about what he was going to do when he was let go but that was during the week of the LSU game." Bobo subsequently signed on to become the offensive coordinator at South Carolina.

Damn, Kenny McIntosh and Zeus time. I have very low expectations for this game at this point. It's also strange because Herrien isn't a first rounder, he was going to get the bulk of the carries and could have increased his draft stock with a good game.

I am not sure why he's out. He's been a DGD and a baller so it's hard to imagine he's sitting out because of the draft even if I don't blame him. Maybe he's hurt?

This will be a rag tag offensive unit

Was he going to become a whole different running back with 15-20 carries in New Orleans?
He has 103 carries on film this year and 277 total in four years. The NFL knows who he is.

WR: Pickens, Simmons, Jackson (if healthy), DRob, and Landers.
RB: Zeus, McIntosh and then no one. Even Prather Hudson is transferring
OL: I don't even know who are the OTs outside of Mays.

It's been that all season. When is the last time a team got shut out in the Sugar Bowl?

It seems to me like Swift intends to play, at least as of now.
Maybe Truss at tackle? Idk really

No, but perhaps a strong performance against a good Baylor defense would raise some eyebrows. Especially since we're going to struggle throwing the ball.

One game against Baylor would not have increased his draft stock one iota. It's Baylor. That's like saying a good game against Kentucky would boost Herrien's draft status.

Baylor’s defense is pretty dang good too.
Consider me worried for the Sugar Bowl.

I was thinking we'd win a very close, ugly game but now I am not sure if we have the firepower to win. Baylor is a damn good team and very well coached.
One benefit is that it's hard for Baylor's staff to game plan this cause I am not sure we even have a game plan

Not sure with Cleveland being out.
Could be:
LT: Condon/Truss/McClendon
LG: Kindley
C: Hill
RG: Mays
RT: Salyer

I honestly think having randoms in the starting line up might benefit us. They will at least be going all out. Plus they will several practices together. And while Baylor may be good with better than average defense, they are still mismatched against our talent in the trenches.
I think they will come out ready to prove themselves for next year and some slight motivation to make up from last year

I’ve been thinking about that. You wouldn’t have the same kind of “ho hum” attitude out of a bunch of kids trying to cement a role for 2020. Just wish it wasn’t against that Baylor front.
I am, though, excited to see McIntosh get some real carries. He could be big for us next year cause I have a hot take on Zeus just not being the same stud we’ve had as a starter the last few years (which is to expected with the quality of his predecessors and his injuries).

Well Kirby did say he learned from last year that it’s more beneficial to play the guys who want to be there instead of players that might be more talented.
So if someone sits and we don’t have a good explanation then that might be it.
However you’d think Herrien would be one of the top guys wanting to play so I doubt that’s the case with him.

That’s the thing. Haven’t heard anything about injury and Herrien has always been a DGD. More heart than many Dawgs the last few years. Maybe it’s bogus report cause I haven’t seen it elsewhere but at this point idk.

I also want to see McIntosh. He is a big back and in mop up time I was impressed.
