Man, seems like a HUGE miss. No way in hell Haskins should ever have gotten the start over him

Cuz he’s dumb and favors thugs over good guys. Aaron Hernandez was his favorite player.

I’m the biggest Burrow homer ever and still disagree with this. Did you see Haskins last year? Burrow was also just coming off of an Injury, which lead to even more concern

Did you watch him last year?

And don't feed the LSU fans. They are stirred up enough.

He broke his hand which helped Haskins. But what gets me is joe flat out played DH n spring gsmes. But Haskins arm talent wowed Urban a ton

Because everyone on the rant is a better coach than Urban Meyer and would have realized his potential the second he stepped on campus.

Haskins scored 54 TDs last year, that's pretty good. For Reference Burrow has 52 Tds so far this season.

It's not like Haskins did badly.

Urban just happened to have two QBs on the roster who would have started for every other school out there not named Clemson or Alabama. Urban has spoken very highly of Joe every chance he’s had since then.

Urban has the eye for QBs and he can develop the hell out of them. Urban didn't start Cam Newton either. It happens.

People forget he wanted OBJ at DB at first as well.

I've seen him speak a few times about how hard of a choice it was, most at the time believed that he was just talking up Burrow and it really wasn't as close as Urban claimed, obviously it was.

Sometimes you shouldn't engage in revisionist history. Haskins was a stud. Joe Burrow needed more time to develop. There's no shame in that.

This is one of the dumbest takes I’ve ever heard on this board.

But to answer the OP’s question.. it’s probably because Urban was more confident in the QB he had in front of Burrow at the time. Ya know, this is kinda like asking, why didn’t Urban start Cam at Florida?

Burrow was garbage in 2018, I'd imagine he was garbage before that too

I know this tRant & facts don't matter but Burrow came in after the spring game, almost right before fall camp. He was learning the play book on the fly & never really had the opportunity to work on timing with the receivers. He said at SEC media day this year that he was still learning the offense as the 2018 season went along.

Dude attended classes and hurt his hand. He came to LSU took online courses which really means nothing but easy eligibility. No offense its just true. This allowed him to go full NFL style prep for every game and turned into a unit.
