Maybe not awful, but average. He had Gurley at RB on the goal line against USC and never gave him the ball.

You pick one play and label him awful...then average?

We had some of the most prolific offenses Georgia has ever had under Bobo. He was a finalist for the Broyles Award given to the top OC in the country in 2012.

Was he flashy? Did he throw the ball around a lot and run an air raid type offense? No.

And, honestly, was his success due to the insane amount of talent he had on offense or was it because he was just good? I don't know. I would say he was a solid OC that seemed to be improving every year. He developed QBs very well with Stafford, Murray and Greene.

Our offense has probably taken a step back almost every year since he has left. I just think it is a disservice to dismiss him as awful or even average.
Our fans never appreciate good to very good coaches or players, for some reason. We seem to always look at better options around the country instead of enjoying the success our own players/coaches achieve.

THIS would be my concern, and I tend to agree with this. However, he just might be able to adjust and grow. We don't know yet. He will do fine at SC, though. They made a good hire. I would rather have him than Coley or Schottenheimer.

I thought we would miss Chaney when everybody was celebrating, and it took us less than a year lament the Coley hiring. It doesn't matter who we would hire after Coley, we would not be happy. I can't think of the last offensive coordinator our fan base was happy with. Crap, our Dline played lights out this year and we have people complaining about Tray Scott.

Out of curiosity, I would like to know your basis for this.

They are building the right way. They have a couple of really good OTs and are adding good players to their defense. I agree with you that UT will continue to get better.

Look at the players they are recruiting and signing. Defensive players and OLinemen. If they find a QB they could be very, very tough. They have a long way to go, but they are getting there. They signed the top 2 OTs in the country last year, and some really nice defensive pieces. This year was not a fluke. They still have a long way to go, but they are getting there.

anyone with that guy's opnion I know to ignore permanently. It's such a simple minded view.

-for starters, there was nothing wrong with the playcall. I can't begin to count the number of times in the richt era we ran that exact same play call for a TD. Hell we've run it multiple times this season as well.
-secondly, and more important, it's 100% patently false. We ran the play action pass on 1st down, and people seem to overlook it was a ridiculous grounding call that backed us up even further.
-On 2nd down...we gave gurley the ball.
-On 3rd down....we threw it to gurley
-On 4th down we missed a 28 yard field goal.

So to recap:
-we did target gurley, multiple times
-if our kicker makes a simple, routine 28 yard field goal the game is tied with 5 minutes left and nobody even remembers that series

But some people just have to find things to complain about.

I think that moving UGA to November helps us. Usually when we play you in October, you are highly ranked and seem unbeatable. We are still getting organized at the time and cant get over the hump. By November we will have a better idea of what you are working with and we can scheme more effectively. You will still be the better team as we are a few years away but i think PRuitt has shown he has some promise. .

This is entirely premature but if we can somehow get through UF early (which literally almost never happens), the UGA/UT game could decide the east next season. Or UT could at least play spoiler if we aren't in that position. Looking forward to it

I agree 100%. If I could go back and see a play by play of the drive I think our run game was stuffed or stopped for little to no gain on that drive. I thought a play action was a pretty good call in that situation. As you said, the grounding penalty made the play look much worse, but it was a bad call.

I gave the poster the benefit of the doubt, btw, because I am not as familiar with him and thought he was just repeating what a lot of people have said. His was a popular opinion on our board for a bit. I think you and I were some of the few that defended that play and, as a whole, Bobo.

Maybe. We have incredible success with Auburn in November, so it's hard to say.

If not this coming year, then maybe the next. Tennessee is building and getting better. I see Tennessee building better than Florida. We'll know more in the near future. If Florida has another class like the last one it could be disastrous. They can't afford to lose so many recruits to discipline and nonqualifiers very long and expect to compete.

I fully expect to see Tennessee to make a splash in the next year or two. Right now depth will be a problem, and you need Harrison Bailey to come on strong, but the other pieces are falling into place quickly. Pruitt is doing a good job. If y'all are patient he might turn out to be the big hire everybody else was hoping for.

Agreed. Next year we will still be playing catch up somewhat, but 2021 lines up to be very promising. Right now we have lots of great talent potential (key word) in the trenches and on the defensive side of the ball. If Bailey can get established next year and we can keep the momentum rolling from the back half of this season.

Only problem (well...not the only problem) I foresee is Bailey not getting the nod next year since we have 3 QBs ahead of him when he gets here. JG, Maurer and Kasim Hill (MD transfer). Shrout also but I see him transferring.

Crap. Seems like Guarantano has been there for 10 years!

I was really impressed with Maurer when we played him. Apparently it didn't work out? I saw Guarantano starting again later in the year. (Or maybe I am mistaken?)

Disagree. No need to risk a sack, intentional grounding or an int with your panicky qb unless they force you to do so. Make the stop gurley running right at them at least twice.
