Oklahoma LOST to the only ranked team they played. To me a straight up loss is worse than a narrow victory, but call me crazy.
They beat Texas, and were dominant in that game. I would have no problem with Baylor being ranked higher, but I’m sure they’re sending a message about non-conference schedule, and there are a lot of reasons Baylor isn’t in the top 10. They legitimately should have lost to Texas Tech if the game was called correctly. The Big 12 admitted they blew it.

If you want to have a playoff, use an objective tournament of champions.
Should be easy. Four playoff spots, four power-4 champions.
They could add an NIT-esque playoff for the group of 6 champions to keep everyone happy.

How would you accomplish that? All these conferences are not created equal. So many variables involved that you can only hope they get the top 4 right.
You are never going to find a committee that isn't bias or can ignore a name brand team when they don't deserve to be in over someone else. Right now Bama is top only because their name and not the teams they have beat this year. They probably have the worst resume in the top 20.

Based on your downvotes there are three Oklahoma fans lurking. Lol

I don’t mind it, but it needs a computer element.

shafted out of what? a meaningless mid season ranking?
Some of you just go through life looking for things to whine about.

Come on dude. Baylor has some very close wins. Oklahoma's only "close" win was Texas, and that game wasn't close on the field.
Wouldn't you say Oklahoma's best effort would beat Baylor's best effort? I would.
I can't stand the "this team deserves.." narrative. Be honest and ask yourself who would win if team A played team B.
I agree with OSU being #1 for this very reason. I also agree with Penn St being higher than Clemson for this reason. LSU and Bama are a push to me. I can't say who would win between LSU and Bama. That's when you go by resume.

Meh ...if OU played Baylor on a neutral field they’d be favored by at least 17 points in Vegas. The committee got it right. Baylor almost lost to Texas Tech.

Two teams from the same Conference....
*Oklahoma is 7-1
*Baylor is 8-0
*Oklahoma has defeated zero teams in the Top 25
*Baylor has defeated TWO teams in the Top 25
*Oklahoma LOST at #16 Kansas State by 7 points
*Baylor WON at #16 Kansas State by 19 points
What basis would one have to rank Oklahoma ahead of Baylor at this point in the season? But of course, the Committee did just that, ranking 7-1 Oklahoma at #9 and undefeated Baylor at #12.

What’s your argument on that? Other than a gif I mean

After yr1 the marching orders for the Committee was changed to stress that the Committee's job is to generate the best TV Matchups
A Playoff Committee's job is to find the most deserving Teams, but there was a new variable added in yr 2 or 3 about creating the best TV Matchups so now they can hose teams like Baylor if they need to create a more attractive TV Matchup

But to make good matchups SHOULD require teams to be identical instead of picking whomever you want.

It's also a fact of the NFL that a team can win their division at 7-9 and knock out a wildcard team in another division that went 11-5. So, crap happens in all aspects of sports and life. There is no perfect human formula and folks have always struggled with their own limitations.

Which doesn't explain Bama being good enough to win a NC every other year. Good enough to have played in 4 straight NC games.
Maybe you haven't noticed, but the schedule hasn't played out yet. Bama happens to play in the toughest division, in the toughest conference, in college football. For some reason, you don't seem to want the Crimson Tide to finish their backloaded schedule.
Just keep winning barner, we'ere coming for your lunch money in a couple of weeks.

We aren't stripping anyone the right to watch the game. We are stripping them of their right to be bias and not see past someone's name when voting.
How exactly do you propose to allow the committee to watch games without allowing them to know what teams they are watching? are you saying blinding all the metrics and then watching the games? you can't make use of the game viewing concurrently with the metrics unless you know which metrics belong to which game viewed performance.

Nope, nope, nope. By this time folks who still can't understand the committee's mandate for the playoffs should just go away. It gets a lot more complicated than this and you are still struggling with the simplest of concept.
It's the 4 BEST teams. They will use the eye test to get it figured out. This human element will always have a great deal of subjectivity to it. There is no system that can eliminate it.

The only thing wrong about the BCS was just having #1 vs. #2. A four team BCS playoff would have been just fine.
