Like most:
Quality of football competition. Every game means something.
Dislike:
Insistence of playing the baseball tournament in Hoover. What is the deal on that? Just about every school has a baseball stadium facility as good or better than the present site.
There are 7 major league stadiums and a plethora (for LSU grads, that means lots) of excellent AAA and AA stadiums within the boundaries of the SEC.

The conference is just better, and all games mean a little more. This is the case for all sports except basketball, and we traditionally suck at that
Funny to watch the sips and sooners talk about good riddance, then invade our message boards to tell us how much we don't matter to them

Not sure I can add anything that hasn’t been mentioned ....
Things I appreciated about tB12:
- geographic proximity to opponents (but we knew that going in to the deal)
- in the same vein ... the majority of conference events (conference games notwithstanding) weren’t geographically located, such that the same five or six teams habitually benefited from tourneys, receptions, media days, awards ceremonies, etc.
- our history and traditions w the Texas schools
- most of the supporters of B12 teams were affiliated with their university, rather than simply self-identifying themselves as “fans,” due to where they lived/grew up or because their “brother in law went [there].” I don’t think Baylor won a football game in a century, yet their grads stood by the team through thick & thin.
This wouldn’t bug me in the least, apart from the fact that those same “I’m no longer a fan of [Team X]” individuals tend to be the most obnoxious in every way. It’s stinkin’ odd. That dynamic didn’t exist in tB12—at least not nearly to the extent that it does in the SEC.
Things I prefer about the SEC:
- $
- overall excitement level
- opponents travel much better
- no longhorns (until they sniffed out this board like pigs in search of maroon truffles)
- better facilities
- better road trips
- increased exposure for Texas A&M University
- camaraderie
- competent conference leadership
- respect for all universities and not just one
- superior recruiting
- better coaches
- “It just means more”![](https://yoursmiles.org/csmile/wink/c0510.gif)

what do you miss most about leaving the Big12?
Rivalries. Cultural camaraderie. BS'ing with co-workers/friends from other B12 schools. Shorter road trips/able to take more road trips. Really miss everyone in the Big 8, DON'T miss the +4 Texas schools (which we are still with A&M, so +3 technically I guess). EDIT: BASKETBALL. Crazy how different the roundball is outside of Kentucky, in terms of everything: from style of play, to fan atmosphere, etc. I don't think most SEC fans realize that we have been a basketball school for decades. The move just happened to coincide with the absolute worst (not conjecture, objective) period in program history. EDIT 2: No wrestling in SEC. Great sport.
*Big thing for me, certain segments of our fans pretending to be something we are not. Wasn't a problem in the Big12. We knew where we stood, our state's culture, etc. Some are trying wayyyyyyy too hard to be "southern" and it just isn't a good look. We are a Midwestern state.

I'm glad A&M fans never took that approach. Texas is not, and will never be, the south.

There is one thing that I miss about the Big 12, and that is the baseball tournament in Oklahoma City. It baffles me that the SEC continues to play its baseball tournament in a suburban parking lot, rather than playing it some place where you could walk to games from your hotel (and not from a tenement on wheels). But, that's a very minor point in the grand scheme of things.
Have you been before? This is 100% because the majority of people that do go, want to tailgate. We are far bigger tailgaters than the fans of other conferences. I love being able to tailgate all day outside the stadium, go have beers between games or even between innings, cook something out there, and meet people from all the different fanbases.

Also curious on A&M and Mizzou fnas opinions on the conference division split and cross-division games?
Obviously there is much contention between a portion of the original 12 on how this should take place. LSU fans have never been big fans of it, but before we expanded it wasn't that big of a deal. We would play half 3 of 6 cross-division opponents every year. Now only playing 2, and having 1 be a permanent, it sucks for us.
Mizzou fans still haven't had the opportunity to play LSU at home. They also have to travel to UF every other year. A&M fans are just now going to Athens for the first time, but they have to travel to Columbia SC every other year. Don't y'all want more rotation?

Anyone with any sort of eyes can see that Missouri should be in the West. But I don't think it matters too much to our fans. South Carolina has developed nicely into a little rivalry of sorts. Georgia is fun.

Yes. The rotation could be easy if you add a 9th conference game, and you could even keep the permanent cross division. But it is really dumb not playing every team at least once every 4 years. Could do away with permanent cross divisions if Auburn and Alabama went East with Missouri and (insert team here) West. "Big 6" obviously throw fits about that, but logically it makes the most sense.

We don’t miss Texas. And I don’t mean the football team, I mean the Texas Athletics grip on how the Big 12 is run

You're right but as the new guys here it would help if the other schools would promote that change.
The other schools are still trying to adapt to Yankees and loud mouth Texans in their midst.

I honestly don’t get it. Both schools have a lot in common. I work with a ton of A&M guys who are great people. And we always get along. Why this level of unbridled hatred?

What do you like most about joining the SEC, And what do you miss most about leaving the Big12?
One real reason was the State of Texas and Texas was keeping Missouri and the northern schools from becoming strong due to financial and recruiting disadvantage. That also the Big 12 championship did not come back to Kansas City again. It was all about the State of Texas and Texas. Then you have OU and the other Texas schools get better support and respect than the northern schools. SEC the recruiting is a lot better and more balance. Big 12 is all about the State of Texas and the Texas schools and OU. It almost destroyed Missouri. Missouri got out at the right time and slowly recovering.
