Maybe their is a underlying reason, maybe it really is bad luck. It’s clear that some serious analysis needs to be done.

As we know that the desired size in football will not change, the only solution has to be reducing the total amount of joint use for each player.

Using Moses as an example, if limiting injuries is the top priority, Moses would have needed to get a fraction of the practice reps - just enough to be mentally ready, and then go over and get on a bike for the rest of practice. Sure, you're sacrificing how ready he is due to lack of repetition, but at least he's available for the game.

I'm not saying that this is what we should do - I'm only saying that it's likely the only solution. The problem is that the only way to get good at football for game purposes is to simulate the game over and over in practice, time after time after time.

Personally, I don't think there's much to do. However, if I'm coach Saban, I'd have ever single player wearing those Olineman knee braces for the entirety of practices. Take them off for game time, but practice in them 100% of the time.

And if I'm in Orthopedic R&D, I invent full length football pants that integrate the knee brace right into the pants, thereby preventing slipping of the brace. If any of you invent this, please give me 10%. Thanks.

These are the injuries Alabama has dealt with entering season (BamaOnLine)

Prayers for all players, especially those who suffer a serious injury.

What about items like compression sleeves? Do those offer support without hurting performance?
