Old news to some but this morning a casino in Vegas set a bunch of odds for CFB QB battles.
Gatewood-150
Nix +110
Gatewood starts vs Oregon but both play in my opinion.

It'll be Gatewood.
I hope we don't play both.

There would be zero reason to play both unless Gatewood starts and struggles badly. Its just a bad precedent.
Pick one, Play his arse if he can do the job.

I think this is easy money on Gatewood.

Normally I'd consider this the way to go...
... but it's Gus and I don't trust his ability to truly know. As a coach and OC he thought both KF and JJ were going to lead to us the promise land, brought in a totally wrong fit pro-style Stidham, and played crazy switcheroo with Barrett Trotter and Mosley. He's also erroneiously thought he could develop a QB and wouldn't allow outside help. I'm afraid having Mitch Mustain dropped into his lap (and Cam) really over-inflated Gus's self worth when it comes to quarterback knowledge.

How do you explain Nick Marshall though?

He cant. His only topic is "Gus cant do bla bla bla". Same old shite every day. At some point, even he has to be tired of listening to it
Gus never really worked with Frazier at Auburn. And he did pretty good with Mostly and Trotter considering how bad both of them were and that our 2011 team lost over 40 players from the 2010 team with a lot of them being key players.
But whatever makes some of these guys feel like part of the gang
Gus needs to pick one of the QBs and let them play. Since they are very similar in technique, there really is not reason to play both like he did with Malik Willis. Its not a different offense by bringing in Bo when if he starts Gatewood.
Lets just see what happens

It’s gonna be Gatewood.
Nix will purely be a backup unless Gatewood struggles for a few games.

Lanier.... CGM did well with Moseley and Trotter ?!?!?!? He certainly proved he lacks the ability to recruit and develop a traditional QB...

BS - haven't taken a stab at Gus in months. Go back to your bottle and put a nipple on it you big cry baby.
Yep, NM. Got me there. Two true winners, him and Cam. Is this a good tally for an offensive guru? Two who were taught how to throw the ball elsewhere? Dud is truly offensive as are you at the moment with this routine. Yep, there's lot's of people hating on Gus around here, but I've been kicked back waiting and hoping he turns the corner.
Maybe Gatewood will exceed, surprise some, or simply meet others expectations; that'd be great you simpleton. And if not at least there's another QB ready to go. One who's been taught the game and to throw the ball by another... one who just needs to learn his system.

He did as good as we possibly were going to do with them. Neither had the talent to play in the SEC and we won 8 games with them. No he did not turn either of them into a NFL QB but they both were hurt all season and like I said, we did win 8 games with them.
I do agree that he has not really brought a bunch of guys up that he recruited but he did make Cam and Nick Marshall much better than they were when they arrived and I certainly do not think Stidham or Sean White dropped off in play.
His biggest fails were with JJ. He really did not spend any time with Frazier even though he recruited him for a long time.

NM wasn’t taught how to throw the ball elsewhere any more than any other QB signed to play QB (not to learn how to play). He couldn’t complete a pass game one.
Nick Marshall did a whole lot of running for his life at juco. I’m thankful for that I guess because his clock in the pocket at Auburn was on point.

I certainly give Gus some credit for bringing Nick along but that guy was one cool customer. You cant teach that. He knew when things were breaking down and it was time to tuck and run.
He just was a very talented guy. Never really got rattled. He was the total opposite of Stidham who was scared to death.

I just hope the started doesn't make one mistake and get pulled early.

So he can beat two #1 teams and win the west with a wrong fit?

That can be said for several posters on here. It has to be exhausting.

I hope we don’t either but Gus will get cute and bring in Nix for two series or in a special package at a minimum where Gatewood flexes out wide. All bets are off for a coach that played 3 QBs in a single season opener.

I hope he doesn't have to play with that kind of pressure looming, he needs to be relaxed.

I know it doesnt fit your narrative, but J Stidham would be considered an above averge college QB, too. The only shitty QB we have had was JJ, and Gus came in so late during that recruiting cycle that he had to take him. What other coach in the SEC has more QBs on NFL rosters than Gus? Some of you are hold overs from the old "Woe is me" AU fan base.
