Cole Cubelic’s takeaways
quote:

ALABAMA: All timer. QB was incredible. Made the plays when he had to. Poised. Protected the ball. OL had a pretty good day. Protection clean. LT really good. TEs helped. 3 showed up. Pit themselves in miserable spots multiple times & climbed out. 15 & 41 were rippin' off the edge! LBs took themselves out of some plays. Lot of vertical movement behind LOS. Secondary aggressive vs run. 3 was really good. Busted the jet wheel. Couldn't find QBs read for a while. Went into a tough arse atmosphere & got a rivalry win. Gotta tip your cap. Playoff hopes alive.

AUBURN: As big of a gut punch as you can receive. Played hard. Brought the physicality. Environment was as good as I've been in. Needed more balance offensively. QB made good reads in mesh game. Need more than 5 completions. 27 & 22 ran hard. Drops hurt. Needed TDs not FGs. Misdirection was huge. Forced missed fits in the run game. Protection not good enough. Couldn't get to the QB often enough. When they did, couldn't get him down. Too much free grass. 0 & 10 really showed up. 30 played well. Came down to critical mistakes. Can't muff the punt. Can't let the WR get behind you. Can't bust the coverage before half. Had to have conversions. Impressed with the fight. But that was painful.

Someone kept asking about who the coaches named as players of the week:

quote:

The Alabama coaching staff named 10 players of the week following the Crimson Tide’s 27-24 win at Auburn last Saturday. Isaiah Bond, Jalen Milroe, Kadyn Proctor and Roydell Williams on offense; Terrion Arnold, Chris Braswell, Deontae Lawson and Dallas Turner on defense; and Jihaad Campbell and Quandarrius Robinson on special teams were all recognized for their efforts against the Tigers.

Jalen Milroe on the legendary 4th & 31:

“It was all about 11 guys. Up front, they did a really good job being patient and taking care of the guys that rushed.

The biggest thing about that play is that we repeatedly work on that play every single week. It was our opportunity to take advantage of it, and ultimately, we were successful. IB did a great job on his end getting open.”
