No, he's actually a good guy. I just don't think it's a good fit. He's more a specialized human-interest story reporter. While Laura is more of a host/straight reporter. Would've liked Peter Burns or Dari. But Maria Taylor would've made the most sense, but she is playing a bigger role on ESPN.
I've noticed a lot of SEC reporters and personalities go on to "Big ESPN" to play more national roles and use SECN to do that.
I believe Dari will be the next in line to do that.

I'm wondering if it's something Laura (or someone at the network that has her back) may have pressed for... Don't want to go on maternity leave and then come back with another younger female having stolen the spotlight and lose your gig. No danger of people wanting Marty to hang around...
