Saying UGA was unmotivated pretty much means the fanbase is sticking their head into the sand.
I saw before the game Georgia was going to have major issues because to beat Texas you needed to spread them out and attack them vertically. UGA refused to do this and this more than anything was the reason why they lost.
Georgia is a Top 2-3 team when they run the ball
When they can't they are slightly above average.
This was the same reason why LSU beat them. Texas' DC plays a very similar style to LSU.
When Tom Herman got the Houston job Dave Aranda recommended Todd Orlando to Herman.
Only two defenses that stopped Lamar Jackson...2016 Houston and 2016 LSU. Orlando and Aranda.
We can go back to the previous year and Auburn. DSOR was determined because Auburn stopped Georgia from running the ball.

Same excuse Auburn used before losing to UCF a couple of years ago. It’s a played out excuse.
Are you comparing Texas to UCF?
I asked earlier, so I'll ask you. What happened to Texas against Maryland and Oklahoma State? You Texas fans seem to think the winning team is always the best team, so I am curious how Maryland beat Texas. Were they better? how about Oklahoma State? better?

Uga has been a playoff caliber team 2 years in a row.

Always funny to me when other teams point the "excuses" argument as all major teams have lost games they shouldn't for various reasons. Especially bowl games.
I would have preferred all the players played, the upper classman practiced like they wanted to be there, and the coordinators gave there all, that said it happens....hats off to Texas, the Maryland losses are perplexing to me though. Bad match up maybe...

Texas fans just don’t want their big win to be diminished, and red five hates it too for some reason, but the factors present for that game aren’t imaginary. Texas simply didn’t play the #5 team in the final playoff poll, and they won by 7.

If they were winless last year they would get great PR.
They are a bunch of whiny libs & so are the sportswriters.

I think you had a deflated GA versus a Texas team that wanted to make a statement.
That does not take anything away from the Texas win, nor does it excuse the GA performance, but it does provide context.
And you nailed it about the winning team does not always equal the best team. Texas was the best team on the field that day won that day. That however, does not make them a better team.
Troy was not better than LSU or Nebraska.
Old Dominion was not better than VA Tech.
But if anything, the teams that win that day deserve even more credit because they wanted it more on those days.

Bud I was at the game. We beat you guys soundly for four quarters (garbage time TD to pull within 7). The score wasn’t indicative of the overall tone of the game. We owned both sides of the line.
I’m surprised at the Bulldog posters making all of the bogus excuses. The fans at the game all agreed it was an asskicking and were disappointed but otherwise fun to be around. This all seems like some weird revisionist history- take the loss and own it.
And to OP’s retarded question- I will leave you with the immortal words of the great Don Meredith:
“If ifs and buts we’re candies and nuts we’d all have a merry Christmas.”

Georgia made excellent halftime adjustments and we couldn't counter. See?
And I still never felt safe in that game until Michel scored the winning TD in OT.

I'm not going to go back and read every post, but you seem to have a habit of mischaracterizing posts and arguments.
The issue on this thread is that there seems to be a Georgia fan, maybe a couple, who are making excuses for the GA loss. The response is essentially "scoreboard" bitch. Given that the game was the last non-championship bowl game played, it's going to carry more momentum into this season - hence the title of this thread.
Maryland was better than Texas the last two times they played. Scoreboard bitch.

The game wasn't indicative of our team.....
When we beat teams down, its way worse than 7-14. Hell Auburn beat us soundly two years ago for us to only turn around and beat them soundly three weeks later.
Not to mention the mountain of excuses you guys made when you lost your qb early vs Bama....a few years back in a game that did actually matter.

Texas shut down Georgia run game plain and simple. They key to beating UGA is simply shutting down the run game.

I don’t make excuses for that game. I was also there. Sucks that our QB went down. We lost. It is what it is.
And every game is indicative of a team. What are you talking about? That’s literally the only true metric for evaluating a team.
You lost, you big crybaby. Get over it.

They would still hype this game up regardless. a week two matchup makes this the game of the weekend and these teams rarely play each other. Texas beating UGA is just a little more coal on this fire.
Spin zone: even tho I was rooting for UGA big time, Texas's victory and them being hyped up helps LSU. Lets Geaux

Texas would get preseason hype, simply because they are Texas. They and ND are the most consistently overrated teams in all of football year after year, and no other team comes close
They will lose the two games that are actually a challenge on their schedule, then breeze through the rest of their Charmin soft conference to be "back" again in the media's eyes. Because they drive the media coverage in Texas, and always have

Actually, there was something I read not too long ago on the subject. USC was a distant third when comparing preseason rankings versus final rankings in the polls
Texas and ND were WAY out in front
