Can you imagine if Duke and UNC meet in Omaha? Dozens of tickets will be sold.

Holy shite this is surprising

Does anyone underachieve more than Corbin? Most first round draft picks in SEC history, most players put in the majors in college baseball during his tenure, best recruiting classes almost every year, and all of 3 trips to Omaha to show for it
Paul Mainieri?

That might be overstating it a bit but I could deffinately see 15 to 20 tickets being sold.

Compared to Corbin? Is it even necessary to compare their postseason success? Corbin is paid almost twice as much for half the trips to Omaha. Corbin hasn't made it past the regional round in 6 of his 14 NCAAT appearances. Mainieri has failed to make it to the super regionals 3 times in his 11 trips as head coach at LSU. And Mainieri gets plenty of shite from LSU fans for underachieving.

Well, yes. That is exactly the point.
They are tied in the only category that truly matters, and that is National Championships. They both have one, and they both lost another.
Sure, Mainieri has two more trips to the CWS than Corbin, but Corbin makes the postseason at a better rate than Mainieri and he has a better winning % in Omaha.
The kicker is that Corbin is doing it at little ole Vanderbilt. A program that has no historical success in baseball. Mainieri is doing it at LSU. A program so powerful, full of history, at set up for success that even Smoke Laval could make the CWS two out of five years.

Well that's not fair now is it? Surely someone has reported us to the NCAA.

Mainieri's success at Notre Dame coupled with his success at LSU is more impressive than Corbin at Vanderbilt in my opinion. While at Notre Dame, Mainieri took them to one College World Series and got them into the Regional/Super Regional format 9/12 years there. To my knowledge, Notre Dame hasn't done anything remotely impressive since Mainieri left.

Perks of being private.
Take your advantages where you can get’em but don’t act like it’s not an advantage.

I think comparing Mainieri's success at Notre Dame to Corbin's success at Vanderbilt is actually the fairer comparison.

Vandy has the most advantages of any SEC school in baseball. Period.
