The way Baton Rouge borders are drawn, is not where the city is located. Shenandoah area is right in between the two interstates and not even considered part of the city. The stat you’re ready is just someone not understanding the market. Plus black families moving to the burbs.
I live in Baton Rouge proper and my neighbors houses sell in less than a week.

Is this seriously a State thread talking shut about where a school is located?

Maybe, Eastbound on I-10 just after the Mississippi merging on to I-12 always sucks, but they know how to cook food in Baton Rouge. Great Cajun restaurants,

Every one of these cities people are fleeing for their lives from has something in common. This is the wrong board to say what it is though.

That's ok. We train all our recruits on what neighborhoods to avoid. For the ones that live in the hood, we can't do anything about that.

Has Baton Rouge become a cesspool?

I say let them leave. It would less traffic and less crime. Like it was said before, Baton Rouge wasn't near as bad before Katrina.

Baton Rouge is not a cesspool. It's a pretty typical city for its size that it is struggling in the typical city ways: white flight, incompetent city leadership with misplaced priorities, aging/insufficient infrastructure (that fricking MS River bridge), expensive and ineffective public services (public schools and public healthcare).
Couple all of that with a high quotient of residents North of Florida Blvd. who quite literally don't give a shite about their homes and neighborhoods let alone the city or Parish, and you see why the city is essentially half haves and half have nots.
There are some beautiful parts of the city and area, and some absolute shite holes, but generally if you're in the South and Southeastern parts of the city, it's a great place to live that offers residents a lot.
St. George breaking away from BR is going to make BR proper worse, but I'd say BR has earned it. Kip Holden was 100x the Mayor Weston Broome is. She deserves this mess.

BR is pretty comparable to similar sized metros in the South like Little Rock, Birmingham, Mobile etc. Some good and some bad. The entire north side of the city is a war zone. Most of the southern half is decent to nice.
White flight to the burbs has been a thing for 30 years and continues to happen.

What do you mean by “become”

The reason for the turnover is because people are leaving BR for the "sticks".

I’ve lived here for the last 4 years.
Its still lively and doesn’t look like People have fled at all.
It’s gotten more expensive and more luxury buildings are going up... and I love it

I'll look for the original, but right now I'm having a hard time trying to figure out what common cause there would be for people bailing on that collection of cities.
I can see individual reasons for all of them, but I can't come up with one common one. Anybody know?
