Baker seems like a solid prospect, but a 4.75 forty for a WR is terrible. There are lineman that run close to that. Hopefully he just had a bad run. In the SEC, you better run in the 4.4's or close to it as a WR if you hope to get any separation from the elite DB's you'll be facing on Saturdays.

While I agree that his top end speed needs to be better, I disagree that it is an indicator of whether he can get seperation in the SEC. Hell he still might have blown by Savion Smith. There aren't 32 Deion Sanders running around SEC secondaries. You see a lot of completely lost DBs running around our conference each Saturday. And as TideorDie stated top end speed doesn't indicate quickness.

While this is true, if you read the report from the camp, he struggled to get separation off the line. He apparently just out-jumps everyone at the point of attack. That's great and all, but unlikely to be the best strategy at the college level. I'm glad he's Bama bound, all I'm saying is he needs to be doing speed work if he truly runs a 4.75 right now. Hopefully he can at least get down in the 4.6's. This isn't the Pac12 or ACC, teams in the SEC know how to play ball on the defensive side.
