Not true. Nielsen does now count streaming through Hulu Live and YouTube TV.
We were Nielsen family members from 2011 through 2014 - when we cut the cord. Nielsen explained to me that as such our partnership would be terminated as they didn't count streaming.
If they have since incorporated streaming I'd be interested to know when as I am certain 2014 wasn't included.

Also games pre cable drew many more casual viewers.
That's not always the case.
Explain how Ohio State can play a National Title Game in 2014 on Cable against Oregon, in a game that was decided by 22 points..... and draw a 18.6 rating.
Yet that same Ohio State team played a National Title Game on a Network against LSU in 2007, in a game that was decided by 14 points.... and it only drew a 14.4
*Same Ohio State
*More Traditional Opponent with larger fan base
*Closer Game
*On a Major Network
.... yet fewer viewers than when they played on Cable.
That doesn't jive if the entire driver of these ratings is Cable vs. Network.

However, Ohio State vs. Oregon in 2014 was on cable and is the second highest rated NC Game since 1998.
South will watch no matter what. Ohio State and Oregon meant entire midwest and large part of the west coast was also watching.

You are correct. Nielsen began counting streaming from Hulu Live and Google's YouTube TV in July of 2017

21.7- Texas vs. USC, 2005
I believe CA was #1 population state at the time and Texas was #2
Florida is #3
Anytime any of these 3 are involved you should expect good ratings
PA, IL, and OH are all in the Top 10 which helps Ohio State (PSU and UI not having teams in games)

Which ones were on ABC or Fox (network) vs ESPN (cable)?

Good to know. Thanks!
What about the ESPN networks? How are they counted in the streaming-ratings process?
We watched the SECCG, all bowl games through the ESPN app on Roku.

Just STFU...it's flat silly to compare cable vs OTA TV.
It's my entire point you dolt and if you're gonna post ratings get the numbers right.(which he didn't do)

Also interesting that 8 of the top 9 are all from the BCS era when the title games were played on Sunday and not Monday
Only one of the BCSNC games were on a Sunday.

Yes, that's true. However, Ohio State vs. Oregon in 2014 was on cable and is the second highest rated NC Game since 1998..... so it shows that being on cable doesn't necessarily hinder it from hitting a huge rating.
It also got a major boost from being the first ever playoff title game.
Oregon is not a ratings bonanza. And the Midwest generally watches title games no matter what. Though I'm sure Ohio St was able to pull in a lot more casual fans in Michigan, Indiana, PA...etc, than a SE team would.

Then why is this near the bottom?

14.4- LSU vs. Ohio St., 2007
Because we all sort of knew we were not going to win that game. Minimal enthusiasm from Ohio state’s perspective

13.7- USC vs. Oklahoma, 2004
That's surprising. Blue bloods and the 2 most recent Heisman winners.

Big state populations matter (except for Cali), imo. Oklahoma vs. Oregon would've been in the gutter b/c they're smaller pop. states.
Posted on 1/9/19 at 5:58 pm to WildManGoose
Cali doesn't care that much about football and okie is small state. What a clusterf---- of a season.

This matters first
And then matchup and then network vs. cable and then time/day of airing
