Alabama didn’t even have the depth on the DL they’ve had most years.

OU’s problem isn’t coaching, it’s that the SEC is signing all the really good defensive talent in Texas that would have gone to OU ten years ago.

Depth has nothing to do with the quality of 1s that were on the field against us. That's what we don't have. Well....that aren't in redshirt.

No. But I’d felt more confident with the depth Alabama has had on the DL in previous years. The 2015 DL had little drop off from the 1s to the 2s.

Well at the rate you're sending people to the draft I'm surprised you're able to maintain any depth at all, anywhere.

OU actually has mostly blue chip talent on Defense over the past 2 years and just signed a very nice defensive class in 2019. Aggie is just scared as always since OU has had 3 top 10 classes and will pass them for a top 5 class in 2019. The issue on defense has been philosophy and coaching. OU is in need of an entire culture change on defense and Riley has acknowledged it by firing mike mid season. I wish you all luck in the years to come.

A&M has the number 3 class for 2019 and just signed 23 players.

Love our chances to have a 2015 DL again with the guys pulled in from the 2018 and 2019 recruiting classes.

That wasn’t just culture seeing them closely for the first time all year. They looked slow, and out of shape. Just didn’t have the body types.

That we're going to "go the way of Nerbraskuh" is an aggot fantasy. Reality is they will go 8-4 again next season and the bloom will be off the rose, once again.
They won't be able to sell recruits that Jimbo has a ring and is going to win a national title at ATM too, anymore. They sold the whole "we gon' win a nattie!" with Sumlin too when he arrived. Their recruiting will start sliding off again like it was with Sumlin. They can't outlast OU. They never will.

Those guys out there aren't anything like what's in redshirt. They've had too much weight put on them to play positions they haven't played before in a scheme they haven't played in That's why they're slow

Yall didn't win shite when you had a defense. They don't call you Chokelahoma for nothin
Posted on 12/31/18 at 2:52 pm to CharlotteSooner
Then why are better players redshirting in this day and age?

If you are not Notre Dame or Alabama, OU has more National Championships than you.

Great question!
This is part of the staff problem at OU I've been alluding to on here. And why they'll all be packing their bags here in the next few days.
We also have two guys playing ILB that have never played the position before, all year, who were both terrible, all year. Sitting behind them on the bench are two bluechip ILBs who were recruited as ILBs, by everybody, and can actually play ILB. They weren't given the chance to win the spots on the field at any point this year.
Same problem has shown up in the secondary. Blue chip recruits coming in and sitting behind inferior players because "reasons and stuff" nobody understands.

Too long ago. But I still like our odds of finding a defense good enough for the CFP before LSU finds an offense good enough to beat Bama AND Aubie AND aggie AND SEC champ AND CFP matchups. Being little brother in the SEC doesn’t mean much in the end.

Everything you said was true. We have a gauntlet in the SEC. And if OU played in this conference they would never sniff another CFP.

That’s false. When Oklahoma had a defense, they won, and even lost some games. 1999-2008 were the better years for OU.
