There is a big difference between soft zone and a busted coverage. wtf

I have never said coaching or roster development isn't very important.

But almost everyone would say talent is the most important thing in football. TO A POINT. Obviouslly if you SUCK at development or roster management, talent alone won't save you. But if you are even mediocre at both, see Kirby, you can win the east non stop.

The point is that good players seem to always find those weak points in the defense. Everyone said that the only reason Trask was successful is because the defenses that he played were simply not challenging him.

Similarly, now, you're saying Cager just operated under busted coverages. I'm saying maybe he almost always obtained it.

To pull this back: The hand wringing going on about recruiting is what started this. I think Kirby's days are numbered and I also predicted several years that he would flop sooner than later. Seeing who he replaces Fromm with will be important, and seeing Beck's season completely implode makes me wonder how long he can sustain his job and recruiting.

Recruiting is important, but wanting top 5 classes and anything outside of that is a failure is what I'm trying to argue against.
