I have a coworker who is former enlisted army who came up to me on Monday dressed in army babyshit. He is a unique feller, he is an “LSU” fan but has a bevo tattoo. He asked me “Hey did you watch the game?” To which I reply “What game?” He scoffs “The Army Navy game!” I replied with “No, I had better things to do.” He then Began to brag about Army winning knowing I’m a Navy veteran. I replied “As an enlisted man am I supposed to care?” To which he replied if Navy would’ve won I would be rubbing it in his face. My reply was “like 74-72” and he then stomped off crying about refs.
So I give zero fricks about that game as an enlisted man. The better naval officers came out of the Merchant Marine Academy. The only time I troll a fan base about Navy is Mizzou since they lost to them in a bowl game. Do y’all root for the academy of your branch?

I've always been conflicted because on one hand it's Ring Knockers and on the other hand it's Army. I root for them but not hard.

I always root for the Air Force Academy, but have not been to a game of theirs since 2002 when I was stationed in Colorado Springs.

Me either
Well that isn't completely true. When I was in the Navy I alway pulled for Army.
It pissed off 2 Annapolis grads who played for Navy on my ship

Funny how you had to mentioned 2 entire paragraphs of completely irrelevant information. All you had to say was “Hey veterans, do you root for your branch.”

I’m a Navy vet and I root for Navy in that game but I don’t put too much into it though.

This is a weird post, and I don’t believe one word of it..

I was enlisted in the Navy. Yes, I pull for Navy in the Army/Navy game, because I’m proud of the service I enlisted in - otherwise, why would I have enlisted in it? But I’m not a hardcore Navy football fan, and don’t really pay much attention to them outside of that game.

A lot of things changed after 9/11. People outside the two Service Academies started watching. It is a celebration of service more than anything now.

Doubt you were in the Navy. Old Navy perhaps.

There was a long thread about this the other day. The general consensus seemed to be that enlisted don't really care about that game. I know I don't. If it's on I'll half arse pull for Army but I'm not even thinking about the game 10 mins after it's over, win or lose.

You would be wrong.
I served from 21 August 1981 until 16 January 1986.
I was an EM2 and served aboard the USS Claude V Ricketts DDG5
One of the best days of my life was that cold day in January when I flipped an Eisenhower Silver Dollar to the Petty Officer of the Watch as I walked down the brow for the last time.
I flipped him the coin and said thanks for the ride

Agreed. I have found green to gold officers superior down range at the junior levels. Had a green butter bar West Point grad assume command of our platoon mid-tour and it was a disaster. Complete disaster. Weak platoon sergeant that couldnt real him in. Needless casualties ensued.
