MSU scores, blocking wr throws hand up and never touches the Bama defender at all, they call block in the back and spot a clear TD on the 1. Complete frick up.

Not to mention a clear fumble on the 1st drive of the game. It was close enough to go to replay and if they did that the replay shows it was a clear fumble. Yet they didn't even try to replay it. The play clock was ran down to at least 5 seconds before the snap and no try from the refs to look at the play. Guys in the booth was going bonkers over it.

Why wouldn’t states coaches have challenged it?

Totally bad and embarrassing to the Conference...and OBVIOUS.

Morehead said that his coaches in the booth said that his knee was down. I'm not saying it was, but Morehead had the chance and refused based on what his guys in the booth said.

Yes the CBS announcers were going bonkers and rightfully so because it was a bad missed call but as I understand it the Mississippi State assistant coaches in their booth told HC Moorehead that the knee was down and not to call timeout to challenge. That’s the reason Moorehead did not call timeout I thought.
As for the horrible “block in the back” call, that one was/is embarrassing man. I was hoping State would score a TD on the very next play so as to make that bad call obsolete. But then it was a delay of game penalty. Yesterday was a poorly officiated game big time.

He said this point blank to the CBS sideline reporter.

Fulton for LSU making an obvious pass interference in the end zone but of course no call.

The block in the back was a bad call.
I agree this should have gone to replay. I don't think it was as clear of a fumble as they commented though.
Single oblique angle. Gary noted the ball coming out but then 2 frames later the nose of the ball touches the posterior lateral aspect Harris's thigh and his forearm is obscured. If dropped by the ball carrier, trajectory = inferior leg/proximal ankle. If knocked away = superior to greater trochanter of runner.
I'm over running analytics on sports games though. Still should have been reviewed.

The "block in the back" was sold by what "appeared" to occur. From the perspective from the end zone, the ref sees a Bama player falling forward ( was going for tackle) and then the State player throw his hands up, like he's innocent. Too many times players throw their arms up when , in fact they did block in the back, but in this case the State player did not. The ref just assumed that is what happened.
Not justifying it, just stating why the penalty was assumed.
