Would you say LSU is a read option offense with Joe Burrow because he runs a true read play with a serious keep option 3 times a game?
What is a “read option offense?” The read option is one aspect of modern offenses, just like RPOs. I certainly don’t deny that LSU runs the read option.

Um, the Auburn offense of 2010 and 2013 that forced teams to account for the QB run on every mesh play? The one you said we now are?
Lots of teams implement the read option into their playbook, but only a few use it as a staple. Gus' original Auburn offenses had it as the staple play of their entire scheme. Read option inside power play.
Which, I argued then and now, was the definition of power football. Which is why I always rejected the notion that Gus' offense was finesse and gimmicky.

So basically football that only the service academies and Georgia Tech run now?

This thread isn't about LSU. This thread is about a once proud program resorting to a gimmicky high school offense...the same type of offense they criticized Auburn for for years.
Bama plays winning, mostly pro style football. Saban has adapted to the rule changes, something Miles would not do which cost him success and ultimately his job. Orgeron is doing the best he can with the personnel he has, but he can't take on most talented programs. They aren't close to a playoff program. But again I commend Coach O for doing what he can with what he's got. Let's hope he recruits the kind of players that will allow him to take advantage of the rules, if not he will never have an elite team like Alabama does.

So, is this why Auburn was a gimmick offense? Because they ran the read option? Or was it the HUNH? I’m just trying to get this straight. You’ve been all over the board on this.
ETA: posted before you edit. I see you do not subscribe to the common belief amongst Bama fans that a read option offense is gimmicky.

Yes, I am 100% suggesting that. The critique was that Auburn's offense was entirely based on stopping other teams from subbing via tempo.
I always rejected that notion as Gus' original offense was as power based as any other. It was the wishbone out of the shotgun at hyper speed. However, our current offense has zero similarities to that outside of lining up in the shotgun.
I don't understand why people think acting idiot is somehow fun or funny.

I do not think a read option offense is gimmicky.
I do think the way Gus ran RPOs with down the line passes knowing referees would not call linemen down field was gimmicky. Extremely gimmicky. And it's a gimmick he can't get away with anymore.
Same with the hurry up solely to prevent substitutions.

Why can he not get away with down the line passes? He should be good as long as the pass is caught behind the LOS, no?

Just stop. You are embarrassing yourself.
How bout waiting til we beat bama before running your mouth?
Too much to ask I guess from the snowflake faction.

No, as in the QB ran the mesh with the RB down the line then threw to a WR outside as his OL was clearly down the field.
Referees weren't used to it, didn't know what to do and basically decided to allow it until the next few seasons when it was brought up repeatedly.

Here’s what I’m talking about
There were certainly several that were thrown down the field, but their bread and butter was the mesh play with the WR running a bubble screen to keep the DB towards the boundary.
BTW, the second play in that video is an excellent example of what you are talking about. Half the OL was 10 yards down the field.

Yep, it was. They just also played with the knowledge that if the play dragged the odds we're high it wouldn't matter if the OL was downfield.
And they definitely kept it in their pocket for shot plays.

Ok UTP, once we got past calling out past gumps for hating stuff then adopting it things turned out ok.

So, you agree that Bama has strayed (or started to stray) from big boy football?
Them are pretty much every other team in the nation. If the NCAA changes the rules of football not allowing the QB to throw a forward pass.. would you blame teams for running the ball all the time?
That's the point, I don't think Saban wants to run this kind of offense and he certainly is tired of having to defend against it. But he understands that if he doesn't do this then his team is at a disadvantage.
You have to give him a lot of credit, he is willing to adjust to what the NCAA is doing and win... compare that to Fat Bret who kept trying to play 1980's football.

I just have to learn that sometimes threads that sound stupid have a specific Target and I'm not it LOL.
Avoid.
